Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Ohio might cover a few different types of addiction treatment in Ohio. Per the Affordable Care Act (ACA), your Marketplace plan might cover the following types of substance use disorder treatment:⁴

• Medical detox: This will not be a required step for everyone, but medical detox can help you securely and safely withdraw from a substance as comfortably as possible. This aids you in the transition into an ongoing treatment program, which can include inpatient or outpatient rehab.
• Inpatient programs: Inpatient programs allow you to get help within a residential setting, and you will be living with those who are also coping with substance use disorders. Many inpatient treatment programs involve attending both individual and group therapy.

• Partial hospitalization programs (PHP): PHPs are just as intensive as inpatient programs, but you still get to live at home. Those who participate go into treatment for five or more days per week, and those sessions can last between four and six hours each day.
• Aftercare: Aftercare programs are a crucial component of recovery since they encourage sustained sobriety. They also help prevent future relapse.
