Eden Hill Recovery Retreat for Women
Phenomenal. Professional, personal, tailor-made individualistic programming. Very much a family atmosphere. Once you settle in, you will never want to leave. If I could live at Eden Hill, I would do it in a heartbeat. The term “staff” doesn’t adequately do justice to the Team of people who run and work at , Eden Hill in all capacities.They are personable, accommodating in anyway possible and loving. It is not possible to leave Eden Hill without feeling like your family has gained a few unofficial members. The accommodations are fabulous and newly renovated. Therapeutic communal living helped me to increase individual personal responsibility while at the same time learning to live with and compromise (perhaps for the first time) With my housemates. The clients form a bond that is therapeutic and supportive. We learn to hold each other accountable for their actions in recovery and other communal living issues in a kind and, if necessary, mediated way. Some of the tools I left with we’re effective communication, the development and use of boundaries, healthy confrontation (or “care”from ration) and how to be a part of the solution instead of the problem. Most importantly I learned humility. I learned the world does not revolve around me and that to be successful in recovery and life, I need a support network which required working on my relationship skills. My circumstances did not allow me to participate in the family recovery events; however, I witnessed my peers and their families participate with what appeared to be excellent results. The Town-of Canaan is small, safe, charming, and has a large recovery network suitable for all ages. I have known many people that have gone through Mountainside treatment center in Canaan and then followed treatment at the extended care facility of Eden Hill Recovery Retreat in Canaan that have decided to remain in the area due to the Active and varied recovery community. Additionally, many of these individuals are still clean and sober and moving on with their lives. I myself am considering relocating to the Canaan area at some point in the near future for the above stated reasons. I cannot recommend this place more highly. Eden Hill is like a second home to me which I will forever remember as a very necessary, nurturing, and healing time. I have met some of the most wonderful, loving women in situations much the same as my own that I will forever treasure as sisters and friends On a journey you couldn’t possibly understand unless you’ve been on it too.
Westport House Sober Living for Men
Having worked in this industry for years, specifically in community outreach, I know the challenges of finding quality sober living for those discharging from residential treatment. I work very closely with our continuing care team on where we send graduates of our program and I can say confidently that Westport House is at the top of our list. My team and I spend hours vetting SLE's all around the northeast and we are extremely particular in where we send our graduates. It is true, there are a lot of sober living homes and communities that are not well managed and operated, and some that are even unethical in their practices. I can say having personally worked with the Director and Westport House for over two and half years that we are 100% satisfied with their services. The owner is friendly, a good communicator, and very serious about maintaining a well run sober living home. We've had clients stay at Westport House and they've all expressed their satisfaction with us and shared their wins of living in such good homes. They are structured, well kept, and motivate their clients to engage in their community while also working on their continued recovery. He makes the process of enrolling people into his homes seamless, which is incredibly important. Transitioning from residential to sober living is a very crucial time in recovery. If you’ve been in this industry for a while, you recognize that you cannot help people who don’t want it and invariably family members will blame the facility and leave disparaging remarks on message boards but I cannot say enough about how great our experience has been with Westport House!!!
Turnbridge
In July 2016 my daughter walked through the doors at TurnBridge in New Haven. This is a nationally acclaimed long term treatment program for both young men and women. The women's program was just opening but the men's program had received national recognition for its success over the past 15 years. It came highly recommended to us. Thanks to the program criteria and dedicated staff is finding her way through this awful disease. After completing a year+ at TB she successfully and honorably graduated the program and just celebrated her 2nd year anniversary. Had tried other programs but nothing has been like the TurnBridge women's program. Would not be where she is today without TurnBridge, their program and their staff from the top down. Your 24/7 dedication and expertise is extraordinary and we are eternally grateful. It truly takes a village to battle this horrific disease. TurnBridge is one heck of a village to have in your corner.
