The Westport House saved my life - it’s something I say to myself almost every day, and I now know it to be true. I entered the program (with significant hesitation) at the suggestion of my rehab therapist after completing a 28 day inpatient program. I felt I was ready to return to normal life after 28 days clean… nothing could have been further from the truth. The Westport House program was exactly what I’d needed, probably since the day I graduated from high school. While the first few weeks were tough, it soon became clear it was the best decision I could have made to get my life back on track. The staff was nothing but supportive and caring. The structured Phase 1 schedule allowed me to receive the clinical care I needed, while learning self-care & life skills under the guidance of residential staff at the house. The turning point in my recovery came about as a result of the relationships I’d built with my case manager, residential coordinators and peers at P1. When I began to feel joy and happiness again during recreation activities with them, the progress I’d been making truly began to grow. Today, my best friends include staff members and fellow residents that I met in the first few weeks of my journey at the WH. 11 months after walking into 9 Fragrant Pines, I have a full-time job, hobbies that I love and the type of people in my life I always wanted when I was active in my addiction. I look back now and understand the importance of all the little things that are a part of the program - A sober part-time job to get started, waking up early & making my bed, being honest with the staff, moving through the phases of the program and finding new ways to enjoy life as a sober person. It all added up to where I am today. To that end, I would recommend the Westport House without hesitation.
My son went all the way through Turnbridge. We had tried some rehab options here at home. Nothing in St. Louis compares to this long-term program. A heroin addiction cannot be addressed properly in 120 days, or even a few months, as I learned the hard way, even if the addict has a desire to recover. Dumping him or her back into the same crappy environment in white-knuckle sobriety doesn\'t seem like a good answer. This long-term commitment paid off for our family. One of Turnbridge\'s real claims to excellence, in my view, is that the young people are immersed in positive, fun recreational activities almost immediately. The counseling and support personnel are fantastic, to be sure, and no rehab facility can succeed without them. But there\'s nothing like sending your hollowed-out child away, and then within a very short time seeing him replaced with a happy, hopeful young man who declares, \"I didn\'t know I could have so much fun and not be high.\" Of course, that was only the beginning of his recovery, but I think if he hadn\'t gotten this positive experience right off the bat, the success might not be there. It was a long haul after that. Getting a job, receiving a bachelor\'s degree -- those were just pipe dreams at one point when keeping him alive to fight another day was all I could hope for. The environment is crucial, and giving these youngsters a beautiful setting and meaningful experiences cannot be underestimated. Turnbridge isn\'t cheap, but my son has his life back. He just got married to a wonderful girl, who we all love, and is very happy. There isn\'t enough thanks in the world for me to properly express my gratitude to David Vieau and this wonderful organization.
I have been in a number of rehabs and Trinity Glen sets the standard that all rehabs strive for. My stay at Trinity Glen was great! The food was great! The location was great! I was able to work on myself in an appropriate amount of time rather than getting rushed through a 30-day rehab. There was a good balance of work, classes and play. Most people really desire to work at Trinity Glen, the work is easy and it helps someone who has been out of the work force to gently get back to a part time work schedule. I always tell other addicts that if they really want a great program to be in, Trinity Glen is the place. Thanks Trinity Glen!
