Verify your coverageThe Brook Retreat is the best long term, mens only facility in the world. Recommended stay is 6-9months, but they fly by while making lots of new friends. No narcotics of any kind are allowed during your stay and drug and alcohol testing is regular and mandatory. Most non-narcotic medications are allowed but ultimately they want to help you wean yourself off of certain medications. They use the AA method and a patient would be learning from the best teachers of what the Big Book of AA has to offer. They keep you busy but not overworked in any capacity and are open, honest, and helpful too all clients. The management all truly care about their residents and want everyone to get better. A beautiful house and grounds with lots of privacy just down the street form a shopping mall and restaurants for easy jobs when the time comes. Overall, I had one of the best experiences of my life in the 6 months I lived there.
Well trained staff with programs for various co-afflictions like HIV, co-dependency, dual diagnosis, anger management. Very well run. There is no public assistance accepted and it's expensive if one has to pay out of pocket. My relative received expert care and learned a lot about alcoholism and addiction. She received support, therapy and encouragement and was introduced to Alcoholics Anonymous. No guarantees, but it looks like she is on the road to recovery.
This is a very well-run program for men and women in recovery. I cannot speak highly enough of their organization. Thank you.
