The city of South Gate, California, is just to the south of Los Angeles. It is home to just over 95,000 residents.1 Its proximity to Los Angeles gives residents of South Gate many opportunities, but it also puts them at risk of all kinds of substance abuse problems. Illicit synthetic drugs like bath salts are an increasing problem in Los Angeles County, including in South Gate.
Between 2009 and 2010, there were 923 drug-related deaths in Los Angeles County.2 Some leading causes of these deaths included opioids, alcohol, cocaine, and other stimulants.2 In LA County, drug overdose is the fourth leading cause of premature death, which is defined as death prior to the expected age.2
Some of these fatalities may be preventable with increased access to rehab and drug detox options. Detox programs can assist a person in withdrawing from drugs and alcohol and help them reach a drug-free, stabilized state. Once they’re stable, they are ready to enter a comprehensive addiction treatment program, where they will receive a combination of interventions, such as individual therapy, group counseling, family therapy, medication-assisted treatment (if applicable), and aftercare planning.
Finding an evidence-based detox and rehabilitation program is critical. Contact us today for help identifying local rehab options or to find the right treatment in a location of your choice.

The accommodations I received during my treatment at Luxe are unparalleled. The staff is so amenable and really helped me understand how to move forward in recovery in ways I haven’t been able to understand throughout my past attempts in treatment. The location and ambiance of the facility speak for themselves, but the best part was the tailor made menu.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Asana. I googled ‘best detox facilities’ and Asana stood out as one that caters to you as a unique individual and not just the cookie cutter institutional facility so I braved it and gave them a call. I was immediately connected to Kelsey who helped me coordinate everything for my trip within an hour to start my treatment. It was my first time in a detox and I had no idea what to expect and was extremely nervous about taking the first step. Kelsey told me someone will pick me up from the airport which was wonderful, Angel picked me up at the airport and immediately asked if I was hungry or thirsty and offered to take me to get something to eat. He could not have been kinder and more welcoming. He took me straight to the house and I was met with Morgan who helped me do all the paperwork that first night and made me feel so comfortable through a very stressful day, she helped me get settled and made sure I knew I could come to her for anything and everything. From the techs to the nurses they made me feel like I was their only client and not once did they not listen to what I needed to say. They checked in on me often and never pushed me to take anything or do anything I was uncomfortable with. They all went out of their way to genuinely talk to me and share their story and wisdom to help me through my recovery. I always felt safe and most of the time did not feel patient/client, I felt like I was at a second home with a lot of caring friends. They made being sober easy, I never laughed as much as I did and never was I able to share so honestly and openly what my issues were. One of the staff members (Angel) in an effort to make me comfortable went out and even bought me all the ingredients to make Vietnamese soup on his day off (which took half a day), he knew I loved to cook and it gave me a piece of home when I was so homesick. I was and still am so grateful. Thank you (In no particular order and I’m sure I’m missing someone) Shaina, Morgan, Angel, Ken, Scott, Mike, Kelsey, Mark, Adam, Chris, Meg, Jodi, Brian, David, John, and everyone else that was there through my stay. I can sincerely say without them I would not have been able to do this. I will forever be grateful. They have my son back his mom and my mom back her daughter. - Lili
Strengths: Staff- curriculum - therapy- you really feel like your family member matters and the results are outstanding . No complaints. My son went to treatment and was and continues to be successful in his recovery, he is about I be married and our family couldn't be prouder!
One way that the South Gate community has endeavored to fight the problem of prescription drug addiction is to host Prescription Drug Take Back days. Why is this important? Many in recovery report that their first use of their prescription drug of choice did not come when they were given a prescription by a doctor but when they experimented with pills that were leftover from someone else's prescription.
