Gratitude Lodge was very helpful in my recovery journey. They allowed me to bring my dog which was awesome because I wouldn't have got sober without him. They also helped me with FMLA and short-term disability so my job was safe when I got home. I was very anxious and nervous about leaving home to go to rehab but their staff made the whole process very simple and painless. I just took two years sober and I owe it all to the people and things I learned at Gratitude!
Some excellent counselors. Great Off site AA meetings. Very clean. I've been sober for over two years all because of my great experience with this rehab. Strengths: Clean. Organized. Lots of aa meetings. Weaknesses: Lack of extra Curricular activities not enough exercise programs.
I went to "Redgate" in mid 90s at the height of my heroin addiction. My friend/guide, an Irish-Cherokee USMC Marine in program, gave me a ride from OC. I was in really bad shape, sucked up & dopesick. Near the treatment in Long Beach, he stopped at a convenience store near treatment center. He went in, & I waited in car, & I was so sick was slumped down in car. So LBPD cops wheeled up, thinking an AR was in progress, & jacked us up. Friend came out, they had guns trained on him, but he explained en route to treatment. Once in Redgate, the compassionate counselors/nurses got me on medical detox, helped immensely with kicking. I started feeling a bit better after a few days, but drugs/heroin still embedded in bones, causing me anxiety/jonesing, so I was pacing the halls in the middle of the night. Night counselor, reframed my complaint of red/demerit marks on progress, was nothing in perspective, from where we came from. Also I said I was gonna leave treatment, he ''played the tape through" "Yeah and you'll be standing on the street corner, repeatedly reaching deep in your pockets, but you'll still have only 75 cents." When Redgate was renovating, they put us all at American Hospital in Tarzana, with a big pool in summertime. The counselors at Redgate there were all very helpful & professional, my case worker/counselor was Yvette, a very kind & patient lady. I went out a couple more times after that, but I was even worse, and using durations became shorter. I now have been clean & sober coming up on 27 years now. I got a commercial CDL license in 2001, and traveled 46 of 48 states repeatedly. Seeing Indy 500 time trials, parking tractor-trailer at Daytona Beach, going in Atlantic for the first time. Another time at beach near Miami, Coral Springs? Going to church services in several states incl ND, NC(I played drums & harmonica), NJ, Alabama, TX, AZ, WA, CA. The idea of freedom from active addiction for me, materialized in being able to get out of 10 mile radius of Santa Ana, i.e. Chuey's house.

Rehabilitation facilities offer a diverse range of options and programs to address addiction and facilitate the path to recovery. These comprehensive and tailored approaches are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals struggling with substance abuse, providing a beacon of hope on the journey towards sobriety and a healthier, more fulfilling life.
The path to recovery from addiction involves a spectrum of treatment stages, each catering to the unique needs and circumstances of individuals. These stages typically encompass detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient programs, and aftercare support. Recognizing that every journey to recovery is distinct, these varying levels of care are available to provide the most appropriate and effective assistance at each stage
Detoxification programs, often the initial step in the recovery process, are closely and medically supervised environments where individuals undergo withdrawal from substances. This phase can be challenging, as the body adjusts to the absence of the addictive substance, leading to withdrawal symptoms. In detox programs, medical professionals closely monitor and manage these symptoms, ensuring the safety and comfort of the individual. In some cases, medications may be administered to alleviate the severity of withdrawal symptoms, making the process more manageable. The aim of detox is to help individuals safely cleanse their bodies of substances while minimizing discomfort, setting the stage for further addiction treatment.
The duration of detox typically spans from 3 to 7 days, but this timeframe can vary significantly based on several factors, including the substance involved, the individual’s overall health, the extent of their substance use, and their response to withdrawal symptoms. Therefore, detox timelines are individually tailored to ensure a safe and effective transition into the next phases of addiction treatment.
Inpatient drug and alcohol rehab programs play a vital role in the comprehensive treatment of substance use disorders. These programs typically span 30 days, but the duration can extend to 60 or 90 days, depending on the individual’s specific needs. Inpatient treatment provides a structured and supportive environment where patients receive round-the-clock care, therapeutic interventions, and counseling to address the physical and psychological aspects of addiction.
Within the framework of inpatient drug rehab, therapy serves as a cornerstone in helping patients stay on track with their healing journey. Various evidence-based therapies work to uncover the underlying causes of addiction, identify triggers, and develop effective coping strategies. Moreover, inpatient treatment is well-suited to address co-occurring disorders, such as anxiety or depression, that may complicate addiction. These programs employ an integrated approach, offering specialized therapies and mental health support to ensure that all facets of an individual’s well-being are considered and addressed. In this supportive and immersive environment, patients have the opportunity to focus solely on their recovery, free from the distractions and triggers of the outside world, leading to a more concentrated and effective healing process.
Outpatient drug and alcohol rehab programs provide a flexible and effective approach to addiction treatment. These programs are designed for individuals who may not require the intensity of inpatient care or who need a structured plan to transition from inpatient treatment back into their daily lives. These programs offer treatment on an outpatient basis, allowing individuals to attend therapy sessions, counseling, and other treatment modalities while living at home or in a sober living environment. This approach fosters the integration of recovery strategies into one’s daily routine, enabling patients to maintain their work, family, and community responsibilities.
In drug and alcohol outpatient rehab, patients receive a range of therapeutic interventions that focus not only on addressing their addiction but also on equipping them with essential tools for aftercare and relapse prevention. The emphasis is on providing coping strategies, relapse prevention techniques, and support for a sustainable and lasting recovery. Individuals learn to identify triggers, manage stress, and build a strong support network within their communities.
