I can honestly say I loved it heresomething you dont often here from clients in treatment facilities. I hopped from place to place for years and this is the place that saved me. The facilitys approach to healing is unique and helped me feel like I was a part of something greater than myself. I connected with new parts of myself by exposure to animals, fresh air, energy work, and a whole lot of love. While more standard therapies are also staples of the treatment curriculum, what I found different was the frame through which healing was approached: at other facilities I was taught to cope with emotions and thoughts in a way that highlighted my separateness from others and confirmed unintentionally that I was alone; at Rites of Passage, I learned to self-regulate by feeling my place with others and in the universe. I gradually began to feel that I wasnt so different from everyone else and that healing was possible. Other places just teach you to get by. Also helpful and unique is that A Rites of Passage might alter the curriculum for you based on your needs. I received a treatment that was somewhat tweaked from that of my fellow clients, though our comradery was ever strong and we did most things together. I made good friends, and we did most required and non-required activities together. The group is small enough to instill intimacy and attention to each client, both from the facilitators and from each other. Rites of Passage also includes specialized nutritional healing within every clients treatment plana crucial part of the healing process that none of my previous facilities attended to so thoroughly. Above all, much of what I needed when I entered treatment was a sense of community. Rites of Passage was just that: a perfect balance of loving care and professional boundaries that helped me learn how to form my own boundaries with loved ones. In learning this, my relationship with my family and friends improved ten-fold, because I finally took responsibility for my actions. Because of this treatment model I learned how to give my family and friends the love they deserve. When people see me today, they cant believe I am the same person I was 3 years ago. Knowing places like this exist, theres no doubt in my mind that anyone can do the same. Thank you Rites of Passage __
Thank you Recovery Village at Palmer Lake for giving me the opportunity to take back my life and giving my family back their mother and wife. If you want a safe and highly professional program to help you understand your addition and implement the recovery tools you need to survive this confusing and devastating illness, you need to look NO FURTHER. Full disclosure: I’ve been to other treatment programs and all of them were helpful. However, there was something missing. I didn’t know exactly what until these past 45 days at Palmer Lake Recovery Village. I received a new level of education, trauma therapy, meditation and mindfulness skills, plus yoga and so very much more. I also must mention the unlimited access to a full contingent of licensed medical professionals. The flow of treatment is perfect. Beginning with a thorough medically supervised detox, all encompassing inpatient program, with the (imperative option in my opinion) of Intensive outpatient program with a thoroughly detailed after care plan. The staff here has a very unique combination of passion, expertise and unparalleled professionalism. All without ever neglecting the sensitive nature we addicts and alcoholics arrive on their doorstep with. Personally, my past included some significant trauma events. I really was unaware of how much impact this “old history” had on my life and my inability to stop my use of substances. But they knew and they encouraged me to address this, and made it safe for me to do so. Not everyone has big traumatic events in their past, but the small things that we brush off as insignificant can turn out to be really important. This is a first class treatment program that I would highly recommend to anyone suffering from the misery this disease brings. Hope is real and attainable. I have an honest fear of failing but I absolutely know that I have the tools, resources and an in-depth plan. If I follow it, I WILL NOT relapse. Palmer Lake made sure that I’m prepared for life with the support in place to thrive. Sincerely, Allison PS: Life can be fun sober! Thank you Sonny, Ashley, Amanda, Amanda, Cindy, Tony, Jessica, all the BHT staff, kitchen staff and everyone else dedicated to making our lives better!
