Staff is great, kind, and very supportive. Good food, excursions, wonderful behavioral techs, nurses, and therapists. Also, very tidy! Oh, and they clean and fold your laundry. Can’t leave that out.
The stand out staff members here would be Nurse Risha, she doesn't have to be here but she wants to be here and you can tell. her ability to not only work fast, but remember who I am and what I'm taking and really care about it is amazing. She was exemplary. She helped me with medication that my insurance didn't cover and she preemptively did my pre authorization forms for me so that I didn't have to stress about it and I could focus on why I was here, which helped me financially as well. Dr. Fahs was completely understanding of my chronic pain, I've suffered from multiple spinal surgeries and he helped me to find alternative medicines that Dr.Sina had referred me to. It has worked beautifully having medical supervision and it has really changed my life. I've never seen a doctor like Dr. Fahs, he will go out of his way to help even if he's leaving work, he would even come to my room, basically like a house call. He's just been phenomenal. Whether I'm group or with the community, the things I learned through our stories and shared experiences not only benefits me but allows me to help others. I've been given many opportunities to help others through the things I've learned. I've made many new found friends. We even started a peer led yoga class. I had one of two goals coming here, one was to seek help with my pain management and the other was to get healthy again. The campus here is phenomenal because this place gives you freedom. I've heard from many people that they've been in different places that were similar to lock up. But coming here, while they have structure and guidelines, there is a level of freedom that allows us to make decisions and have choices for ourselves. Lots of places to exercise. I went to the game nights, they have bingo and trivia which was fun. I really stepped outside of my comfort zone here and I was rewarded. I met new people, and I even won! We had good clean sober fun. The friends that I've made here at River Oaks, after going through growing pains, were such well adjusted, positive, and happy people. There's a lot of good people here, if you didn't know you were in a treatment center you would never realize they were recently in the throws of addiction because when you strip away all the pain and get to the core of who you are, you find that inner good person. Seeing people peel back the layers is amazing because its wonderful to see the innate goodness in others, its incredible. I would recommend River Oaks to anyone truly wanting to find the tools, the environment, and the resources to get better. I believe that wholeheartedly and that's why I came back when I needed help.
