Our 22 yr old son is currently at Willingway’s Men’s Lodge sober living program and our youngest child went to The Pines in 2021. Our experience was positive both times. We felt our then 17 yr old was safe and well taken care of and we loved the therapist we worked with. There was regular communication and everyone was always very responsive. It’s been the same with our 22 yr old. Ashley coordinated getting him there and was in constant contact during the process. She was kind and compassionate which helped lower our stress level. Vince made the check in process smooth and calm. Mason who is the house manager at The Lodge is amazing. He connected with my son immediately and I can contact him any time with questions or concerns. Willingway has a proven formula for success and our son has shown more progress after being there 2 months than he has in the last 6 years he spent in and out of other treatment centers. In addition to addiction, our son also has some mental health issues and Willingway has worked with him compassionately on issues like medication and therapy. The rest of our family also receives incredible support through the continuing care meeting held in our area (we live in a different state as WW). Our experiences at Willingway, The Pines and the Men’s Lodge have all been positive and we are very grateful to be a part of the WW family.
There needs to be more focus on getting to the root of your addiction and why you are an addict as opposed to just working a program. Yea you can be taught to work a program but until you get to the root of the problem will you then be able to learn from and change your behavior. It was good that they were very strict on group participation efforts and would not let anyone stay in bed during group or recreational times. However, they didn't seem to be to good at roommate placement.
Bethesda being a spiritual program based on biblical principles, while also incorporating other recovery steps, caught my attention. Also, the constant contact with the director, building a "trusting" relationship before my arrival, helped my final decision. My experience was not an easy one to say the least but extremely effective at Bethesda Recovery. I gained a true identity, not per say an "addict" in recovery. I was and still being restored to hopes, dreams, family and friends. Learning about Jesus Christ, and the Twelve Gates( part of this program) I found life and a future. I continue to live drug/alcohol free, and still very much affiliated with Bethesda Recovery. I strive to give back as much as they have given me. A new life.
