Came to recovery first into the detox and had a great experience. Cory and Kiara at admission were awesome when they admitted around 11pm on a Friday night. The nurses, TA and clinical staff were exceptional. They made the transition into treatment easy. Jeff, Catherine, Nate, Greg, Andy, Jordan, Cory and the rest of the TA/nursing staff were also exceptional. They genuinely care about our recovery. The treatments offered were great and effective. I know this will help in my recovery. Special shout-out to Kim for the wonderful and fun activities. Some of the apartments and amenities could use some updating.
On the medical side Nurse Glenn was so helpful. I have thanked him personally so many times and told him how grateful I am for his services. I had trouble with sleep when I first came here and it was the biggest obstacle for me to adjust. Glenn would work with me to find solutions. He took my needs seriously and addressed my concerns in a timely manner. He was great with follow up and correspondence. TA Rosby was amazing. He made my whole transition super smooth and he communicated pertinent information to help me understand what was going on. He always followed up and kept me informed which made feel supported. I engaged a lot in the groups. It took me a little bit to open up but they helped me to connect with my peers and let me know that I'm not alone in this. Being able to connect with different walks of life was a huge thing in my growth. Staff was great. Tony and Demetrius groups were great. I really liked the grounds here, everything is close proximity and I spent quite a lot of time in the gym. They had a lot of equipment I didn't expect them to have. They have rowers and one of the guys here was a personal trainer so I got to do some trainings. The community here is awesome everyone is so helpful and welcoming. I came here to really tackle my problem and I ended up learning so much about my life and myself. I addressed the issue and so much more in terms of my life and my values. The way that I manage my time and my coping mechanisms were all relevant things that I worked on while I was here. I loved the professionals group and talked one on one with the Professionals therapists Travis about my career and my job which was such a valuable resource. They have LGBTQ classes and services here as well as Professionals, Buddhist, and Veterans groups and programs here. I wish I would have been able to utilize them more because they have a small class size. I would 100 percent absolutely recommend River Oaks, I feel ready for when I walk out these doors. I also want to shout my case manager Veronica because she made everything a breeze in getting everything I need ready for when I leave here. She helped me coordinate my flights and has ben very proactive and responsive which made me feel more supported and ready to leave and be successful in the real world. I love this place and I am so grateful to have been here. I'm leaving here with full confidence in the time I spent here. I really put the work in and its all here if you want it.
To whom it may concern, SJRP changed my life with the infinite amount of love and patience they offered to me. The variety of food and activities made me excited for each day that came along. Activities included the gym, equine therapy, horse back riding, NIT/VAT therapy ( which is amazing!!!), painting and reading, meditation, group and one on one therapy sessions. Extra activities include park excursions, kayaking, visiting springs, and the beach. All the staff ranging from the Director of Operations down to the Custodians are there to provide tender loving care for the betterment of each client. I speak from personal experience and this is why I am so grateful for the opportunity to attend Saint Johns Recovery Place.
