They address the reasons why, abuse of alcohol and other drugs is a disease, how you can fight it like fighting cancer or other debilitating conditions. In addition they helped identify other issues that contribute to not being able to fight against the disease without help. The, after care program was the best I've heard of, meeting on-going struggles. Throughout the program my friend felt very comfortable and safe, without judgement of her being gay. Initially, the program can be very overwhelming, but my friend felt even more overwhelmed when it was time to leave. She was very happy with the after care. It has helped keep my friend sober.
