Great lecturers. My counsellor was awesome but others were not so great. The way and amount we were allowed to spend on good and necessities. It was not nearly enough. And I am pretty sure my medical insurance paid for my stay. Should have been allowed more than $45.00 dollars a week for food and necessities It's a good program for the most part. But a lot of the people there, the staff mostly did not appear to be there to help you and take care of your needs. Sometimes it seemed that they purposefully were trying to get you kicked out or discharged.

The CD counselors do a great job with clients, as many of their clients complete the program successfully and enjoy their time at Park. They seem to be able to relate better to the clients, than those counselors who oversee the dual diagnosis programs. The downside is that the doctor who oversees the program is not a licensed alcohol counselor, so his focus is on the mental health aspect. Because of this, he cannot relate or understand what many of the clients are going through in their addiction.

Accessible, friendly, thorough, take general assistance for payment Not much push to attend mtgs, once you leave you are on your own to stay in touch. My 31 yr old son attended twice this facility. He said there were many changes the 2nd time and is staying sober. Had a counselor in the second stay which I believe helped him better. they have men and women treated separately...which is good. Methodist HOspital encouraged him to attend.

Numerous programs but disorganized, poor treatment of staff and interns. Little guidance for interns and too many staff focused on the same issues. Antagonistic environment.

Park Avenue offers very little when it comes to Big Book/AA/12-step. Most attend Park Avenue because of legal issues. There are several good counselors, but also some who are very poor and did not/could not relate to patients.
