This about Alumni Coordinator ANGEL CRUZ. This amazing person has become what I’d like to call family! During treatment when I saw him he greeted me like a brother. He truly wants to see me succeed and he is always there for me. Thank you Angel!!
The nurses were great, always smiling. TA Rosby did my intake and he assured me everything would be ok, he took care of my stuff when I had to go to the hospital. Cecil helped me when I came back when I had questions. TA Frank was great as well as the cafeteria staff were always wonderful to me. Ms. Diana was real sweet. My therapist Amy helped bring some things out of me that needed to come out. We did EMDR and it helped a lot. I was able to process the passing of my mother. Mattie the Care Coordinator helped tremendously by doing the Big Brother program helping me to be a buddy which allowed me to help people and I loved it. My case manager Jennifer was very helpful. I played volleyball every day and loved it for sure. I went to the gym and it was amazing what they have in there, you cant go to an outside gym that has any better machines than what they have here. I learned how to control my automatic negative thinking. I learned to take things day by day and it covered a lot of issues I was having. I enjoyed Demetrius classes, he gives you certificates for attending all his groups and I really appreciated that, its nice to be able to learn about anger management. I did a relapse prevention plan and I was able to look back and see all my notes I had taken. I can look at it and remember the times I was feeling confused about what I was going to do, but I was able to work through it and I feel much better than what I did when I came here by going to the groups and working with my therapist and case manager, each day made it gradually better. The services here are outstanding.
This company hires techs without the appropriate credentials to deal with this population. Additionally, clients are treated like numbers rather than people at times (from the insurance side of things - some clients are promised they will stay longer then abruptly kicked out when their insurance runs out, for example). Therapists there are the only glue holding it together. They are wonderful and truly invested in their clients and the nutritionist is very knowledgeable and goes the extra mile for eating disorder clients.
