I've been in treatment at Medmark in Blairsville for 18 years. SHERRY BARNES is the best counselor ever! ALL the STAFF are AWESOME. They care about me and my recovery. I have my life back Thanks to the Lord, Medmark, and Medmark staff in Blairsville
Saved my life. Everything is 1st class. I loved my therapist and the entire medical team. I will miss my time there and all the people. When I got there, I was nervous as it was my first real time in residential treatment. After meeting with intake it was evident that I chose the right place. Everyone from the administration to finance actually cares so much about your recovery. I couldnt be happier with my time at Mt. Sinai. Thank you to staff for everything you did in setting up what I believe is the best treatment facility in the USA, and judging by the waiting list I was on to get in, I am not the only one. Thank you for my new life.
I am a former resident of this program, now 4 years sober, and was surprised to see such a negative review of this program. One of the directors (TS), who is no longer associated with the program, had a tendency to use fear and vey unusual consequences as a means of behavioral modification. I admit, I didn\'t/don\'t agree with most of those techniques for a person who has already suffered severe trauma as a result of years of substance abuse/addiction, but we are talking about very unhealthy individuals who arrive to treatment with nothing but problems, poor coping skills, family issues, legal issues and low-self esteem. It doesn\'t feel good to give up the one thing that provided comfort/relief and learn how to live sober. That\'s why the statistics for long-term recovery are so low. I can say in all honesty that the program provided EVERYTHING I needed to leave and stay sober. Most places, and I have \"unsuccessfully\" attended many of them myself, provide a bed and minimal structure. Damascus provided me with structure, accountability, workbook material, relapse prevention, 12 step support and a safe, comfortable environment to learn how to live, work and thrive as a sober member of my society. It\'s too bad some disgruntled former residents who were unwilling to put forth honesty, hard work, and behavior modification into action. I still maintain friendships with many sober brothers in recovery who had the same experience I did. Thanks staff!
