Brighton Center for Recovery

My son was there for alcoholism he was 21. He later relapsed due to age and not being ready. He then became a heroin addict and did get clean at another facility, clean four years now, This in my opinion was the best place, my ex-husband and several friends have found sobriety there.

Great Lakes Rehabilitation Center

My son went through the program at Best Drug Rehab and the amount of change I’ve seen in him since he’s been home has been unbelievable. When he started drugs it started with weed. I didn’t pay enough attention to what was going on with him. Because I had smoked weed when I was younger when he started I didn’t do anything about it. I thought that it would be something that he grew out of as I did and as he father did. Unfortunately, with my son weed was absolutely a gateway drug. It just led him to stronger, harder drugs. By the time he was 19 he was shooting heroin and everything in his life was a mess. Even though he was living at our house his siblings wanted nothing to do with him. He did nothing but fight with his dad and I. It was pretty stressful for everyone at that point. When he continually refused to get help things just got worse until finally his dad and I kicked him out of the house. We told him that he could come back when he had finished an inpatient drug rehab program. When he left he had no money, no job and no place to live. The day he left his dad rented him a hotel room for the night but past that we didn’t do anything for him. I thought he’d be back in a week telling us he was ready to go. He has had a comfortable life and I didn’t think he’d be able to survive by himself. He lasted quite a while though and didn’t tell us he was ready to go to rehab till it started getting really cold out. I don’t think I’ve never been so happy to live in a place where it snows then I did when my son said he was ready to get help. My husband and I chose Best Drug Rehab because we wanted our son to have the best help he could get. It makes sense to have different programs available at a rehab and we knew that at Best Drug Rehab he would get the help he needed on a program that was actually going to help him. The other reason we chose Best Drug Rehab was because of its location. Having my son do a program in a different state than us was a completely conscious decision on our part. We didn’t look at any programs that were near us. I didn’t want my son to have a bad day and call a drug buddy to come pick him up. I knew that with him being in Michigan that it wouldn’t happen. My son’s old enough to leave a program if he truly wanted to. No one would have kept him there against his will. If he did want to leave though having him so far away meant that he had to be completely decided on leaving and it couldn’t be a spur of the moment decision. He made it through his whole program and he changed a lot throughout it all. He started caring about the other clients and making sure the newer ones were as comfortable as could be. He made friends and generally became a much better human being. When he came home he got a job right away and he hasn’t missed a day of work since he started. He’s living with us again but he’s mending bridges with his siblings and he started paying his dad and I rent. Which he did of his own accord. He’s started taking classes at the local community college and wants to keep going with his education until he has a degree. He has really turned his life around and I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about him so much anymore.
