Verify your coverageI thank you all for your many gifts of kindness you have shared with me these past several weeks at BRS. Sober now for 54 days after drinking for almost fifty years A bit of each of you will be with me in my heart and soul for the rest of my life. Thank you to those who saw me through detox, who kept me safe, who fed me and took care of my health. Thank you for your counsel, for your help in my search for after recovery support. And thank you to my guides who have lead me from the arid desert of addiction to a new land of joy, of sobriety and of inner peace. Thanks to my maker who knew that it was the right time, whose voice I finally heeded. The world can be a dark place and we, in our addiction, believe the toxic poisons we put into our bodies will shed a light to our path. We then discover we are wrong but because of a powerful voice deep inside, continue our journey to the abyss of our own personal hell, dragging all we treasure with us. As if drowning we raise our arms upward, seeking help but feeling no one there. Alone we descend further, expecting each breath to be our last. By the grace of God we feel a hand touch ours, softly at first and then with a mighty grasp. We are pulled upward to a light much brighter than any we have ever imagined before. It is the light of hope, the light of another chance. The choice is now ours. BRS has provided the hand, provided the SMART tools we need for a clean life, a life of gratitude, a life of humbleness, a life of balance and a life of respect for others and ourselves. Let each of us prove to ourselves and those around us that this second chance for a sober and productive life is indeed worth the effort and our thanks. Here is a verse from Joshua I have probably repeated hundreds of times while here and will perhaps lend comfort to you Have I not commanded you? Be strong! Be courageous! Do not be afraid! Do not be discouraged! For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go Special thanks to the facilitators who are so filled with the passion to help us, just as they were helped with their own addictions. As they said so often, blow out the candles on your pity party cake, quit thinking you're not as bad as someone else- YET- and do something for those who love you and most importantly- the person you will again love the mostyourself. The toughest words we can say are "I NEED HELP" This is the place to go. Thank you BRS for helping me help me!
Treatment. Crowded. I was 18 when I started using and it started with pot, and I ended up being a heroin addict, and destroyed and lost everything I had. I had the best education I could ask for, the best schools and the best family support that anyone cam ask for and I all messed it up. I was such a mess. When I came to Serenity I was scared, lonely, and homeless. My parents and family got really a enough of me and my wife pest me with my son and this was the last drop whenI finally decided it was time for me to take measures and get my stuff together. For this I can safely say serenity saved my life. I had been in and out of rehab in the past and nothing had helped. I would leave and immediately relapse. It was different at Serenity. I felt like I was part of something bigger than myself. If I was to relapse I would let down the whole community, both the staff and my peers. Not only that, but I learned how to live my life without substance abuse, which is more important than most people realize. During my time at Serenity I was given the life skills and confidence needed to take care of myself once my time in treatment had come to an end. Drugs are no longer my crutch and they no longer have to be yours either.
They offer a broad range of treatment options & resources . The staff is committed to changing lives. They incorporate peers as staff that helps the addict connect. They assist families with transportation options. The cost reasonable but prohibitive to many whose families can't afford it. Should consider Medicaid. Many with dual diagnosis will always need Rx to stay stable. And they are weak in this area. Many use due to pre existing mental health conditions. I also believe they should incorporate Vivitrol for relapse prevention for heroin as it has a 70% success rate. We have had an excellent experience with this facility as parents. Our son has maintained sobriety and currently works for the facility he attended. He helps many people and we as his parents & family are very proud of him.
