I enjoyed the The yoga sessions on the beach, meditation that was brought in once a week to the facility, recovery unplugged also offered to take clients to a gym weekly to work out, I was also able to learn how to go grocery shopping on my own something that I haven't done in a very long time. The partial hospitalization in which recovery unplugged models there treatment after was a good way to keep me both in the community but also at the same time in a safe secure treatment atmosphere. Do use of music really allowed me to tap into other areas of my feelings and emotions that I would not have been able to otherwise access through regular talk therapy. Listening to certain songs or motivational speech is allowed me to think outside of the box to better communicate my feelings. The clinical staff for recovery unplugged was far better than I had ever experienced at any treatment facility previously to this one. The clinical start truly has your best interest At heart. My counselor really helped me work through issues surrounding family problems something that I had struggled with for a very long time. Upon leaving recovery unplugged I feel like I had gained the necessary tools in order to go back out into the world to maintain positive and successful recovery from alcohol and drugs. The only one weakness that I would probably point out the recovery unplugged had was the black a family group. However I wouldn't say this is a weakness as a lot of the people who were at recovery unplugged were from areas outside of Fort Lauderdale in southern Florida. Most people are from the East Coast some people as far away is Alaska came to treatment and recovery unplugged us making it a little difficult to engage in family therapy sessions while at recovery unplugged. This treatment center is unlike any other facility I've gone to. Their unique approach to therapy through the means of music allowed me to tap into emotions I wouldn't have been able to feel otherwise. The treatment team and clinical team truly have your best interest at heart throughout the course of treatment. The medical staff far exceeded my expectations when it came to treating my cooccuring disorders with psychiatric medicine. One of the more unique things that this treatment center does that differentiates themselves from other facilities is discharging people on the Vivitrol shot which adds another layer of insurance to prevent an addict or alcoholic from going back out on another run.
The atmosphere at Sjrp is very therapeutic and recovery oriented. The staff really go above and beyond and everyone seems genuinely happy to be there. You can tell they enjoy what they do, which made me feel very comfortable. The facility is very clean. I would highly recommend Sjrp to anyone (friend or family) struggling with addiction and looking to get their life back on track.
I Finally Get It! When I made the decision to seek help again. I honestly didn't believe there was any for me. In that moment of desperation, all I knew was I needed to get somewhere safe. My addiction had me believing I wanted to die. Any addict reading this will understand that feeling. I had pretty much given up trying to find an open bed in a detox center When I entered treatment at Sunspire Health Hyde Park on October, 2017 it was to save my life. However, being my third treatment center. I just expected more of the same. Do this, don't do that, chant the serenity prayer, do a 12 step program, and be on your way. What I got was more than this addict could have ever dreamt for; a new perspective on life. After a brief adjustment period of me wanting to control and run every aspect of Sunspire and my treatment program. Yes, me the addict who weeks before was on the edge of death knew what was best for me. Thank God for the amazing operational and clinical staff who maneuvered me through and convinced me to stay on the numerous occasions I wanted to leave because it was too much. I opened up and allowed myself to receive the treatment/services Sunspire offered. The individualized one on one therapy was eye opening and has honestly changed my life. After thirty years of using drugs to cope. I've finally come to realize that my issue isn't with drugs and alcohol; the issue is ME. My therapist individualized a treatment plan to my specific needs and with my input. This allowed me to dig deep into those things that plagued me from childhood into adulthood. The cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, psychodrama, relapse prevention, codependence, spirituality, relationships and family dynamics groups provided the knowledge, skills and tools I need to piece my life back together. Along with that they put great emphasis on NA/AA sponsorship and building a network of people outside of treatment. The outside meetings were a reintroduction to life and people clean. Reaching out and asking for help was something I just didn't do before Sunspire. I have a lot of work still to do. I am open and accepting to do that work. I have never felt so confident and as prepared to "live life on life's terms" as I do today after spending 90 days at Sunspire Health Hyde Park. For the first time in my life, I am looking forward to the future and a life in long term recovery. I finally got it and it's so simple, I never have to use again.
