I was a homeless junkie in Massachusetts for 18 years before finally accepting help and going to treatment. I only went once, in 2017, which I know is not a common thing. I think it's because I landed at The District and was immersed into a fellowship of sober addicts and alcoholics that knew how to have fun and live a life without getting loaded. These are things I was never able to do. The District taught me how to sit with myself when I had to, and how to get out of my head by helping the people around me. Now with almost 4 years sober I stayed connected to the community and work for them. I have worked at other rehabs and while I may be biased as an alumni, I wouldn't send my loved one anywhere else. I believe the entire organization cares about the guests here from the top down and that's just something you find very often.
