Starting from the beginning when transportation picked me up from the airport, Larry in Transportation should be an ambassador for River Oaks! He was welcoming, approachable, informative, & curious about how to help me. He started my stay at River Oaks in the best possible way. 30 days after I’ve arrived, I still remember Larry & his warmth & kindness. The TA group, particularly Mattie, was exceptional with regard to helping, kindness, & availability. She always made the extra effort when a lot of people wouldn’t. TA Shane, Damion, Frank, & many others showed courtesy during my stay. I have great admiration for all the instructors, therapists, I want to mention Christine & Brian because they were the best therapists I’ve ever seen, & I’ve seen a lot. Dimitrius was a motivator & Andrea was very understanding. I’ve learned to be forgiving & non judgmental as well as open minded during my stay & although I learned a lot about alcohol & what it can do to your brain & body, I’ve learned just as much of not more about myself from the therapists & other clients around me. In terms of leadership I want to thank Phyllis for helping me resolve an issue that was important to me & thank Luther for his patience in assisting me. Phylis also walked me me through the process to get my son help in treatment. I would recommend River Oaks to anyone seeking treatment, you just have to have the right mindset!
There were 2 parts--Detox Facility: Skilled and caring staff, high tech equipment, Clean and Beautiful Accommodations. Rehab: Clean and Nice accommodations. Detox: No weaknesses in my opinion. Rehab: No flexibility on rules in regards to age or type or addiction. Everyone was treated the same as if in a mold, everyone is not the same. I was 50 years old and not a street addict or forced there, still was treated the same as the 20 year old's. Much too strict for me--too many rules, and other things I did not like I had to leave "Against Medical Advice", and was driven to a train station not knowing if I had money for a flight or anything and not feeling well at all and not being able to use a phone on their premises first. It was awful. The Florida House Detox did what they were supposed to do with me: detox off of Methadone after 7 years, but then I was sent to the Rehab facility and was not prepared and was shocked by the experience since I'd never been to a Detox/Rehab and the Rehab to me felt like jail. I would send my son or daughter there knowing they were in good hands as The Florida House knows what they're doing. But me being 50 I couldn't handle the rules and the marching around and the very busy schedule.
By the best inpatient treatment facility in Florida.
