Detox is a way for you to safely stop taking drugs while minimizing your withdrawal symptoms.2 Withdrawal symptoms are a sign that you have developed a physiological dependence on drugs. After taking a drug for an extended time, your body starts to adapt to constantly having this substance in your system, meaning that once you abruptly stop using, you’ll experience distressing withdrawal symptoms.
With medical detox, you’ll receive medical care to ease the pain and suffering associated with withdrawal. You might receive medications to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. You’ll also be in the care of a doctor should anything go wrong.
Quitting substance abuse with the help of detox is a good first step to rid your addiction, but it’s not typically enough to promote long-term sobriety. After you have completed medical detox, you should transition into a rehab treatment program. On its own, medical detoxification does little to change long-term drug use.2
Searching for detox or rehab programs doesn’t have to be difficult. Just use our directory to find facilities that meet your needs. It’s the first step in your journey to sobriety.

Alina Lodge is unlike any place I’ve ever been. As a young 20 year old, entering their facility was very scary, as I did not know what was in store for me. While my experience there was difficult and painful at times, Alina lodge set me up for the greatest life I have ever lived. Having been sober for three years now, I am thriving and loving life to the fullest extent. Today, I look back at my time in the lodge and can’t help but feel gratitude for all that it gave me. Alina Lodge saved my life and I recommend it to anyone who is looking to save their life!

It has very good patient interactive activities, such as the group counseling and team projects, to help cure the mind and spirit. The one on one patient care and visitation are also beneficial aspects of the facility. However, it is too sterile of an environment.
