    Serenity Point Recovery Center

I haven’t been to many rehabs but I didn’t enjoy any of the except Serenity Point Recovery. Serenity was the only rehab I’ve been to that I was comfortable enough to relax and truly work on my recovery the way I should have been able to do at my previous rehabs. When I first got there the staff were really friendly and nice and helped me so much when I was detoxing off heroin. They weren’t fake and pretending to understand what I was going through. They actually understood and were able to help me feel much more comfortable throughout my detox than ever before. Having medical people that were there and knew how to help me get through it was a major thing for me. Between that and the withdrawal staff I was able to get through my detox with pretty minimal discomfort. My detox wasn’t rushed at all and when I got out of detox and started my actual rehab program I was completely ready to get started on it. Everything about going through my program at Serenity was so much simpler for me than my previous rehabs. Because I felt comfortable with my surroundings and especially the staff it wasn’t hard for me to open up about my addiction and because of that I was able to get to the root of my problems and work on those instead of just working on my addiction. My peers were such a big help throughout my whole program. Never have I seen a place where everyone, staff and clients alike were so willing to help me when I needed it. For me at least there are some days when I was there where no matter what I just had a bad day. It was a funk that I really had a hard time getting out of. It would hit me all over again where I was, why I was there and what I had done in my life to get there. When that would happen, I had people that I could talk to bot staff and my peers alike and it really helped me get through it. It was pretty amazing when I realized that I had people I could rely on again. I’ve always had my parents but though they are amazing people and I love them it’s not really the same as having someone around my age who I consider a real friend. Going to the classes like yoga, art therapy and music therapy were much more therapeutic than I would have thought before going to Serenity and attending them. The program I did at Serenity was a program that I knew would help me. I was able to make my own choice of what I through would be best for me and it helped me so much more than any program I had done in the past. Having different programs to choose from was pretty incredible. I wasn’t stuck doing the same program as everyone else just because it was the only program available. By doing the program I wanted, with people who understood me and what I was going through, in a place where I was comfortable being, it literally changed everything. I’m happy to be where I am today. I’m not just sober. I never thought it would be possible for me to be this happy again.

Advanced Rapid Detox at Conner Creek Hospital

Advanced Rapid Detox literally changed my life in 3 days! Without trying to sound like a commercial I'll explain that I'm a 36-year-old male that was on opiates and methadone for over 14 years. I had no drive in life, everything was dull and I felt helpless, hopeless and lost. It's been one week ago today when ARD did the procedure and I have been feeling things that I never could have imagined. Colors seem brighter and more vivid, music even sounds better and gives me chills, my anxiety and stress about having to go to the clinic every day are now gone. I have accomplished more things this past week than I have in the past few years. Making beneficial appointments for myself, fixing things that I've put off to the side for months at a time, just spending time with my loved ones outside enjoying life once again. Everyone who sees me immediately notices a glow that they haven't seen before, it's completely amazing! I can't begin to explain how appreciative I am of the ALL the staff there at ARD. Starting with the driver that picked me up at the airport and drove me and my wife to the hospital, to everyone.. You are all saving lives! I will be sure to recommend Advanced Rapid Detox at Pontiac hospital in Michigan to anyone I know who is suffering and no longer wants to feel the weight from the chains of addiction. I truly feel blessed! Thank you thank you thank you.<3

    Primary Therapist
    Foundation House
Hank started his work in the addiction field in 1984, working in an open ward detoxification unit in Holyoke Massachusetts. In 1985, Hank returned to school and earned both his undergraduate degree and his master’s in social work (MSW) from Springfield College. He is independently licensed, holding both an LCSW and LADC 1 in both the states of Maine and Massachusetts. Hank has worked in every facet of the treatment continuum, both in the public and private sectors. His body of work includes a diversity of positions as a program coordinator and director, primary therapist and supervisor, business development advocate, and clinical and contract oversight lead of several multi-state systems. Since 2011, Hank’s focus has been on working with individuals and families affected by addiction and dependency issues in his private practice located in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Hank’s personal recovery started in 1982 in his home town of Springfield Massachusetts. He has been married to his wife Noreen for more than 32 years and has five children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, hiking, running, and spending time with his family. “Growing up, I spent a lot of time in Maine working and playing on my grandparents and aunt and uncle’s dairy farms in the Kennebunk area. Coming to work for Foundation House is like coming home for me. Maine has always been a magical, healing, and safe place for me. Coming from a terribly dark and painful place, desperation drove me into recovery in 1982, but my gratitude for the gifts of recovery has kept me here for more than 36 years. I was trained and worked as a fire fighter prior to coming into recovery and I am incredibly grateful for the skills I’ve developed, and the privilege I am afforded, to provide a life-line to individuals and families to lead them from the maelstrom of dependence to the freedom of recovery.”
