Henry Ford Health System - Maplegrove Center

Good area, good staff, been open a long time. Doesnt offer any fun things, excercise, gift shop, activities for residents to partake in. There isbt much for the residents family to participate in with the resident. Its a good place compared to a lot of the places available but needs a serious modern update in ots treatment program.

Exploring Portage Treatment Centers Drug-related crimes are one of the many harmful effects of drug addiction. Portage drug rehab treatment centers are there to help people eliminate addiction and its harmful effects from their lives. An April 2012 news article on the City of Portage site gives an account of a recent drug arrest made in Portage involving gun and narcotics possession. An addiction left to its own devices will oftentimes lead a person to jail or even death. Getting the help you need may be one of the most important decisions you can make in your life. When to Search for Professional Care When an alcohol or drug addiction starts to take over a person's life, it's not hard to spot the changes that take place. Ongoing drug use damages the body, so someone abusing drugs may start to have frequent health problems. As drugs become more and more important, close relationships and friendship may start to suffer and eventually fall away. A person's work performance also starts to decline, often resulting in job loss.

If you or someone you know is actively using drugs and has had changes like these take place in their life, it may be time to seek out professional help.

Alcohol's Long-Term Effects

Alcohol abuse is the most common addiction in the United States. It's also the most untreated condition or disease in the country. According to the Florida Institute of Technology, an estimated 35 out of every 36 people affected by alcohol addiction never seek out treatment. Over time, long-term effects will begin to become a part of person's everyday physical makeup. Some of the effects to look out for include:

  • Impaired mental abilities
  • Nutritional imbalances in the body
  • Memory loss
  • Continuous withdrawal effects, such as tremors and hallucinations

Portage drug treatment programs offer a range of addiction services and are designed to address the many different stages of alcohol and drug addiction. Treatment approaches may vary from program to program as each treatment center specializes in working with different types of addiction. When picking a treatment center, look for programs that have experience working with people who struggle with the same addiction problems as you do.
