The atmosphere at Sjrp is very therapeutic and recovery oriented. The staff really go above and beyond and everyone seems genuinely happy to be there. You can tell they enjoy what they do, which made me feel very comfortable. The facility is very clean. I would highly recommend Sjrp to anyone (friend or family) struggling with addiction and looking to get their life back on track.
Jennifer the case manager went above and beyond making arrangements for me. I had a really difficult situation with being handicapped. People really helped me a lot by holding doors and accommodating me. Its a very large campus and I have mobility issues so they helped me to rent an electric scooter to get around which really saved me. You do a lot of walking here. Tony and James the therapists did an outstanding job with the groups. Each person had a different style. I liked the people who are in recovery that run the groups, I can relate to them on a deeper level. They spoil you rotten here. I been a lot of places way worse than this. The VA sent me here and I could have never afforded it. When I first got here I had detoxed at a VA hospital for 4 days and had been in a high crime area in DC where I live so I made sure to get al my groups because I was really grateful to be here. I would lift weights in the gym to get in better shape and build my strength. There's plenty of things to do here they got tennis court, basketball court, volleyball, all sorts of stuff. They emphasized a lot of science here. Skill power, CBT, and DBT stuff like challenging your thoughts from negative to positive. It was a positive experience and I hope I would never have to do this again but if the VA would send me and I had to come back, I would. The weather down here is just beautiful. I would definitely recommend, I'm going to tell the VA rep back in DC that this is a great place because I was the first person from the DC VA to come here according to the rep and I think more Vets should come here.
I have been to treatment several times and I never cared what happened to me during my relapses and runs. I came to RU as a last minute effort to make my family happy and to get them off my back. To my surprise, I stayed and was able to get back into a hobby I sacrificed in order to get high: creating music. The one on one therapy was at first non existence but once I said something I met with my therapist alot. Groups were fun and forced me to grow up and deal with my issues This place is magical and I graduated to the half way and npw enjoying the IOP only negative is when it gets full it is chaotic but so worth staying
