Dr. Amitabh Singh, M.D., Desert Hope’s Medical Director, earned his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Singh moved to the U.S. to complete his residency in psychiatry at Western Psychiatric Institute, University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Singh is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association. His experience includes acting as the Associate Medical Director, Care Management at Western Psychiatric Institute in Pittsburgh, Chief of Staff Monte Vista Hospital, and Service Director for Sunrise Hospital. Dr. Singh’s extensive experience also includes establishing an ambulatory chemical detoxification clinic in Las Vegas and helping to start Nevada’s Desert Parkway Behavioral Health Care Hospital and acting as the Medical Director there. Sober since age 21, Yeshaia has a deep understanding of the youth addiction and recovery process, and works well with people for whom 12-step programs have been ineffective or are looking for an unorthodox approach. Aware that lasting recovery has a spiritual dimension, Yeshaia helps addicts build a customized path toward healing that best fits their personal senses of identity. His experience as a counselor and case manager is enhanced by his connections to a vast network of recovery professionals. He holds a CADC certification from UCLA, a BA from Antioch University, and a Masters in Rabbinics from AJRCA.

I believe that every person is doing the best they can with the circumstances and tools they've accumulated. I love engaging in crucial conversations that help others see a new way to think and behave. People are amazingly resilient. Everyone is capable of change, and my favorite part of being a counselor is watching that change happen.
