My brother was treated at Serenity rehab for his heroin addiction. I think it is needless to say that it was a bad situation. He did everything to get money to pay for his heroin, to get his daily dose, cause when he did not get it he was shaking and he was sick and and so on. He also over dosed, but this was not a shocking thing since that happens a lot with addicts, but thanks god he realized that this can not go on like this endlessly, I was not ok with it neither our parents, so it was time for hard measures and big changes, so there is came Serenity. It seemed like a good fit for him, with all the different programs that they offered, and it also looked like a nice place, he liked it we liked it so there he went. They kept us updated about his progress, and they told us how it is going and where he is at with the detox and so on. The center was very correct, the staff who were in contact with us were very professional, they kept they word on everything they promised us. When he came back after like 40-45 days, I am not sure exactly, he was of course off drugs, and he was very positive and full of goals and he know what he wanted to do. He said too that the staff members were all very nice to him, and even though he was sometimes a bit aggressive, and annoyed they still stayed very professional, and they still were helping him to get thorough his program. He said that it changed many things in his thinking the program, he understood many things, about how the drugs function, and how to avoid those situations that drove him to use, and how to deal with them. He saw it was an escape from other issues that he did not deal with before. He said the place then room he was is was nice too, the food was good, so the accommodation were comfortable, sufficient for a rehab. And he actually enjoyed it a lot after he was trough the rough beginning. I would say to other to check this place out, maybe it can help you.
Simply the best! This facility provides a Faith Based program. Green Group. When Dr. Bill and Bob first established the idea for the 12 step program in the 1930's, they made step 2. Came to believe that a higher power could restore us to Sanity. When they created this step, they were praying to the Same Jesus Christ that we of Green Group do everyday. I can only speak for myself, and the Green Group Facilitators are the Best on that compound, Steven and Flip. For them, and a lot of the other staff too, are very passionate about their jobs. Because of them I am able to see first hand the fruits of life of sobriety. They simply give us the material, and its up to us to do the work. I came into Bear River a broken and scared man. I was scared that the damage from my drug use was permanent as I struggled to read with comprehension for the first week or so. I absolutely refused to accept my condition and with the proper motivation from the Staff I worked my program with full ferocity. I got introduced to Jesus Christ and he answered my prayers, or maybe he seen my commitment and diligent works and Blessed me a little along the way. He restored my mind, spirit and along with my body. I chose to apply a simple motto that is a relatedly read in the 12 literature and that is "One day at a Time". And I learned at Bear River that today is all that we really have. And if this were to be my last day on this planet then how do I want to spend it? And I couldn't think of another appropriate way besides giving thanks to Jesus for allowing me to have another 24 hours of life and working as hard as I can to rectify the damage that I allowed addiction to take on me. Also, the drug use was just a symptom of something else. I discovered that I was a manic depressive with severe abandonment issues. And all of these personal revelations for self improvement are an attribution from The Bear River Program and from the Leaders of Green Group. Thank you Steven for always demanding realness and always calling my bullshit to push me forward, thank you Flip for being the educated man that you are and by working a job you are passionate about, Thank you Reggie for allowing me to be apart of your process, Thank you Mr. Dave for always keeping it real, Thank you Liana in the Med line for holding me accountable and giving me a hard time when I wanted to take a suboxone, that moment was defining in my recovery and it is because of you that I had the strength to say I don't need it! Thank you Mr. Dan for helping me with problems, Ruth ann and Wendy you are the best, The entire Tech Staff for putting up with a bunch of grown man children and always keeping your cool, Mr. Matt L you have developed and maintained a place that breaks the stigma that comes attached with being an addict, you have put you heart and soul into this facility and it shows. Thank you everyone for allowing my miracle to happen. I still have long road to walk and a ton of mistakes to fix but I am now more capable to deal with life on life's terms. You guys give hope to the hopeless and lead by example. I no longer cry "Why ME?" Because of Bear River I now say "Try ME!" God Bless all of you there and keep doing what you do. Love and Respect.
Maplegrove was an excellent experience. They taught me about the disease and told me that I will not be a success without AA. A 12 step program was my only hope. I listened to that and they were right. I don't know how many people told me that they relapsed many times until they took AA seriously. Maplegrove was not too proud to say that. There is no cure, just the reprieve with the focus on the 12 steps.
