Many of us graduated with a new, hopeful chance at life-once we were able to return to mindful thinking and realities and coping...It changed my life. I need retraining now because because of mental health issues. I need the repetitiveness of ADLs and new habits, along with a medicine reevaluation so I can continue on.
I have been to 5 different opiate detoxes from normal hospital detoxes to other rapid detoxes and ARD is BY FAR the most humane detox I have ever completed. It was honestly a miracle. They do the detox under sedation in one day, the next day you wake up exhausted and like you got hit by a bus but NONE of the typical withdrawal symptoms. I would take exhaustion over opiate withdrawal symptoms any day. This exhaustion did not last long at all. The next day I was able to maneuver the airport by myself. Within 1 week I felt 100%. The staff here are truly incredible. They care about every individual and are extremely supportive. When I woke up from the sedation, I found out my partner of 10 years had ODed and passed away. The entire staff came and hugged me and comforted me and gave me the love and support I desperately needed. I cannot say enough about this detox. It truly saved my life.
My husband went through the program at Behavioral Rehabilitation Services. 9 months ago he was in a really bad car accident and was prescribed pain medication. Over the next 6 months I knew he was taking his pain medication. I knew he was getting his prescriptions refilled regularly and I didn’t think much of it. He has never had any kind of problem with drugs or alcohol and I honestly didn’t think that at this point in our lives it would happen. I realized he had a problem when he told me that he had a problem. He came to me after he had called Behavioral Rehabilitation Services and set up everything for his stay. When he told me that he was going at first I thought he was just making his taking the pain medication into a bigger problem than it was. Then he got out his prescription history to show me. He was refilling his prescription sooner than he should have and over his last two appointments his prescription had increased in the number of pills given and the strength of each pill. He told me that he had also tried to get off of them by himself and it just wasn’t something he was able to do. I didn’t know before this happened that you could get addicted to something so easily. I have a couple friends who have gone through a drug addiction with a child and whenever we talked about it, everything was going just so wrong in their lives and the lives of their child. I know it was wrong but to a degree I thought if I had something like that happen to anyone in my family it would be really noticeable. It wasn’t at all and I am extremely lucky that my husband was able to realize that he needed a bit of help and found a place himself and sorted out all the details before telling me about it. Behavioral Rehabilitation Services was such a wonderful place for my husband to go. They were extremely professional and treated my husband with respect and dignity. My husband did well there and has done well since coming back home. He hasn’t taken any pain medication and has worked out how he can deal with the residual pain of his car accident without resorting to pain medication. He started getting massages while at BRS and has continued to do so since he’s been home. It’s helped a lot with his pain and I’m glad my husband is back and doing well.
