This was a great experience. The staff was wonderful and helpful every step of the way. I was very impressed with the facilities and everyones desire to do better. I now have a better understanding of why I allowed addiction to rule my life for so long. My journey is only beginning but I finally have hope.
Im going back to Tennessee, Ive been in several programs and before I came, I lost my house and everything I owned. While I was here I learned that I need to let go of my trauma and not dwell on the past because it keeps me sick. While Ive been here I have learned that life is more than just using and its more like a spiritual awakening. Ive been able to see things that Ive never seen before. I enjoy church and hearing the testimonies. When Mattie spoke in the speaker meeting it was awesome and it helped me a lot. My friend Trey works for AAC and he got me here and he has been a huge blessing. Christina the therapist always comes up to me and can tell when something is wrong. My therapist Ian was straight to the point. I've been through a lot, my wife died in 2017 and Ive been holding on to the fact that I never got to say good bye. I've realized there people really do care. Ive got a lot out of this place and I really don't want to leave but I have to. Im going to do 90 days of after care followed by a year of sober living at New Hope. I've always wanted to be a counselor or a therapist and Ive struggled with suicide in the past and today I have hope.
