River Oaks Treatment Center
My therapist Trina was great. We had similar personalities so it made it so much easier to open up and talk to her. She used humor to help me relax and not take myself so serious, there's no right or wrong, just a safe place to be yourself. She was the biggest influence while I was here. I like the groups that were smaller. We were all in the same phase so we were all learning to open up. I liked the one on ones. The facility was super nice, better than what I was expecting. Even the things that I didn't like, I understood the reasons why. I enjoyed the grounds, I did a lot of walking outside and the weather is so nice. Being here was a good reminder of what I don't want to go back to. The volleyball group they have going is awesome. I definitely played basketball and had a chance to get healthy. We grew up not talking about things in my family and being told to suck it up, River Oaks helped me get to a place where I decided it was time to start dealing with some of this stuff. Once you finally speak it out loud you'd be surprised how much better you feel. I had no desire to come here at first, it was two days before Christmas, but after a week here I knew it was a good decision because it helped me change my life. I would for sure recommend coming to River Oaks with the right mindset to get help.
