Nicole Bower was born in Houston and raised in Bastrop, Texas. She graduated in 2000 from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Psychology and got her MBA in healthcare management in 2008. She began working with people receiving mental health and substance abuse treatment in 2000. It was at the age of 13 that Nicole first discovered her passion; to help those who struggle with mental health and addiction. Her desire intensified as she grew older, witnessing firsthand the struggles of addiction in her close family members. Nicole is an important asset to the Banyan team. As the Executive Director of Banyan Treatment Centers, she gets the opportunity to define and develop a system that fosters the lives of clients in addiction treatment. Nicole promotes a collaborative culture in Banyan, which creates successful outcomes for clients. “Every human being deserves compassion, dignity, and respect… and it is our responsibility to ensure every person has the tools needed to be successful!”

Dr. Green received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Texas in 1996 and his Medical Doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He had originally trained in anesthesiology, but after confronting his own addiction issues in 2004 decided to train in psychiatry and dedicate himself to helping those who struggle with addiction and co-morbid mental illness. Dr. Green completed his psychiatry residency training at John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth, TX. He has worked at Terrell State Hospital, North Texas State Hospital and with the Right Step Treatment Centers. Dr. Green is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and board-certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine. Dr. Green believes that effective treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction should address co-occurring disorders, and that treatment must be holistic, strength-based, and multidisciplinary. He focuses on the biological, interpersonal, holistic and spiritual aspects of alcohol and drug addiction, as well as their interaction with depression, anxiety, trauma and mood disorders. He strives to give clients individualized care that gives them the opportunity to live a sober and abundant life one day at a time.

Shannon has a Master's degree from the University of Texas San Antonio in social work with an emphasis in addiction counseling. She is experienced in leading and directing substance use disorder treatment facilities. Her undergraduate degree is in Business Management from Azusa Pacific University. She works closely with Clinical staff to provide Evidence Based Practice models to address co-occuring disorders. As the wife of a police officer and military veteran, Shannon takes a special interest in trauma resolution. Shannon uses an integrative approach with patients and their families. Strengths-Based Practice is used where the inherent strengths of a person or family are assessed and built upon to aid in recovery and empowerment. This perspective along with Family Systems Theory and Ecological Theory emphasize that environmental factors play a part in development. She believes that a holistic approach to recovery is necessary for growth of the individual. Additionally, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, EDMR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are tools that she uses in her practice to be culturally competent to work with a diverse group of clients.
