The Liberty Ranch

I am fortunate to have a story that involves the Liberty Ranch for Women and Alcoholics Anonymous. I lived a self-imposed miserable life before I got sober. I came to the realization that six other residential treatment centers were not enough so arriving at the seventh, The Liberty Ranch, I must try something different to get different results. Nine miserable years of drinking and using drugs really did a number on me. It took me a long time to get in the shape I was in and it was going to take a while to work out the kinks. The Liberty Ranch’s approach was the catalyst to maintaining long term sobriety. At the Ranch and in AA I’ve learned more about myself as the problem, about what behaviors I exhibit that will kill me, the lessons in surrender and faith necessary to continue maintaining sobriety and happiness. If all I needed was detox to be happy and productive I would have got sober six rehabs ago. Working on myself is an ongoing job, I will never have all the answers, the further along in sobriety I get I see that more and more. Life is baffling to an alcoholic like me. The Ranch taught me what accountability and responsibility mean and how the twelve steps are applicable in every part of my life. I was introduced to my disease and the implications of my behaviors. The residents and staff at the Ranch faced my disease head to head. They never gave up on me. July 19, 2010 was my last drink and drug. My foundation in recovery was cemented at The Ranch- building the life I have today is the fun part!
