AdCare Rhode Island’s medical director graduated from the Dartmouth – Brown Program in Medicine in 1988, completed a surgical residency program in 1995, published numerous articles in prestigious surgical journals, and presented at many national and international surgical meetings. He established a successful private practice as a general, vascular, and bariatric surgeon for 22 years. Her background includes working with working with adjudicated youth, in youth crisis shelters, and working on Federal Office of Treatment Improvement grant projects. Dunn has also held a number of positions working in substance use treatment facilities in standards and compliance and as a case manager, counselor, national trainer, clinical informaticist, and Regional Director of Clinical Excellence and Quality. Denise obtained her MA in Addiction Counseling from Hazelden Graduate School and maintains a license as an alcohol and other drug counselor.

Meghan Wood has a BA in Psychology and Criminology/Sociology, as well as an MA in Counseling Psychology with concentrations in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child & Family Interventions. Wood is also a Massachusetts Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). She has experience providing clinical oversight and direct services treating substance use and co-occurring disorders to diverse populations. Meghan is experienced in the full continuum of care of treatment, including inpatient and residential services, outpatient, and family therapy. Her specialties include Massachusetts Tobacco Education Coordinator, trauma-informed care trainer, Seeking Safety facilitator, suicidality assessment, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques.
