The Liberty Ranch

The Liberty Ranch has been a Godsend for our son, who is 27 years old and has been a resident at the Ranch for 7 months. Both an alcoholic and heroin addict, our son had previously attended accredited inpatient and outpatient rehab centers. Every time he was released after a mere few weeks of therapy, only to return to his addictions. Thanks to The Liberty Ranch, our son is now sober and has finally committed to a recovery method that’s working – working to heal both the addict as well as his parents. Our son has learned to face the reality of his addiction, acknowledge his mistakes, account for his behavior, take responsibility for his actions, work the 12 steps of AA, and focus on a life free from addiction. A sustained sober life is a product of altered associations. The Ranch encourages avoiding the triggers of the past, in part by cultivating new friendships with people who share the common goal of sobriety. As parents, the Ranch made us aware of our own faults and weaknesses: primarily enabling. The Ranch encouraged us to join Al-Anon and we now regularly attend Al-Anon meetings as well as the Ranch’s weekly Multi Family Group sessions. As our son continues to find his way to recovery and a better life through sober living, we continue to stay out of his way.

The Healing Place - Men's Campus

I went to the H.P. In 2010 not knowing the slightest idea of how to be clean or a adult. The staff, all had been there and felt the same way. But they made it and helped me to realize that I’m not alone and I could be clean and sober. I relapsed twice since then. But it wasn’t from a lack of direction or knowledge that the H.P. Didn’t give me. It was my own choice. Since 2014 I have been sober. Ask my mother what the healing place means to her. Ask my friends who thought I was going to die. I gave 2 stars for the accommodations. But it’s free. 100% free. Get over it

What Needs to Be Addressed Before Signing Up for Rehabilitation Treatment

If you are considering beginning a search for addiction treatment, you have determined that you cannot manage your addiction issues alone. However, how do you know if you truly have an addiction, or if other issues are at play? The US Department of Health and Human Services has outlined a variety of symptoms that point to addiction, which is a chronic, medical condition. Ask yourself the following questions to determine if you are experiencing an addiction:

  • Do I continue to use drugs or alcohol, even when it causes problems in my life?
  • Have my family and friends attempted to discuss their concerns with me, to no avail?
  • Have I increased my intake of drugs and alcohol, and am able to tolerate increasing dosages?
  • Do I need drugs or alcohol to function in everyday life?
  • Can I stop using drugs and alcohol on my own, and abstain for long periods of time?
  • Do I have withdrawal symptoms when I attempt to discontinue use of drugs or alcohol?

Assessing your symptoms is the first step in determining the severity of your addiction. This complex condition requires intensive intervention, and choosing the best option starts with an honest evaluation of symptoms.

Are My Children Coping With My Addiction?

Children are strongly affected by addiction issues of parents, grandparents, and other extended family members they have close contact with. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, areas of concern with children of addicts include:

  • Violence or behaviors in the home that put kids in danger
  • Children exposed to diseases such as HIV and hepatitis, or generally living in unsanitary conditions
  • Fetal alcohol syndrome, a lifelong condition that affects all aspects of growth and development.
  • Babies born addicted to drugs, such as meth or crack cocaine

Addiction affects the world well beyond the individual addict, and children often bear the brunt of dependency issues. However, your children may provide motivation in your battle for sobriety. Family counseling and therapy can assist you in helping your children overcome their personal experiences with your addiction.
