Living in areas of Florida like Jacksonville, where many people are struggling with alcohol and drug abuse, can make recovery challenging. In 2017, the rates of methamphetamine-related deaths and cocaine deaths were dramatically higher than the rates in 2016.1 If you struggle with drug addiction, you aren’t alone, and fortunately there are addiction treatment programs available in your area.
If you are drinking or abusing drugs and you are ready to make a positive change and break out of a cycle of addiction, there are a number of treatment options available. If you’re feeling overwhelmed about all of the different rehab facilities, you can always schedule an appointment with your doctor. They can assess your addiction, mental health, physical health, and risk of experiencing complicated withdrawal. Then they will use this information to refer you to the appropriate level of care—typically an inpatient or outpatient treatment center.
Inpatient or residential rehab in Jacksonville will provide you with 24-hour support and treatment while you live at the facility for the duration of the program. Outpatient treatment allows you to continue working, attending school, and fulfilling responsibilities at home while recovering. If you choose to attend outpatient, you need to have reliable transportation so that you don’t miss any treatment sessions. It also helps to have a strong and sober support system.

My physician was excellent. He is patient and knowledgeable and is able to properly evaluate his patients while being compassionate. I have been visiting his office for a few years and have been treated with the utmost courtesy and respect from both him and his staff. I recommend him without reservation, and wish more physicians were like him.
First off if you don't feel like reading this just at least know that this is a great review of Lakeview. Just a brief history of myself, I come from a good family but had experienced trauma in my youth. I never felt "normal". Once I started trying drugs at 13, I was hooked. It made me feel like I could function. I continued to use and got into harder and harder drugs. I was always able to keep a good job and pay my bills until about the 6th year of my heroin use. I spiraled out of control and came to a point where I was just waiting for death. It was on one of these days that I thought would be my last that I had this urge to google treatment centers, I still to this day couldn't tell you why this happened, I think it was a true miracle. Lakeview was the first place that I saw listed. I called them and told them the severity of the situation. After a brief amount of questions, they said they would call back in 5 minutes, they did and they had a plane ticket for the next day. Gosh, I can't help but tear up as I write this. I was very impressed with the medically assisted detox. I think it took me 6 or 7 days, then another few days to come out of the thick fog. During that time there was a great schedule to get me into a healthy routine. The counseling was really beneficial. I had never done it before and since it worked so well for me I continued to do it long after leaving, and still do on occasion. The rooms were great and I was very comfortable. The food was good, a lot of comfort food, which is really what I needed. I chose to take the holistic track and loved it. It was perfect for me because I do well with meditation and mindfulness. Going to outside meetings really started my foundation into the 12 steps. I really liked the way I was phased up and regular meetings with the psychiatrist and doctors. I left Lakeveiw after 54 days, on January 13th, 2015. My life has been all about recovery ever since. I had a relapse after 10 months but got myself right back up and knew what I had to do. That was December 14th, 2015. I've been free from active addiction ever since. There is so much work that goes into my recovery but it's worth it. I have 2 children who have there father. I have a family who has their son, brother, cousin, and uncle back. Just to get a glimpse of what my life is like today, I'm chair and secretary for a Friday night 12 step group, I hold a position in 12 step Area service, I'm a board member of Great Bear Recovery Collective a group dedicated to building a recovery community, I'm a certified recovery coach for NCADD, I'm a peer support for the re-entry coalition which helps people coming out of incarceration who have substance use disorder, I'm a licensed chemical dependency counselor technician and working toward becoming a chemical dependency counselor. Life is still really hard and I have to fight this disease daily but it's all worth it because there are moments that are so good, I have hope today and I'm happy. I thank whatever is out there than is bigger than me for helping me along the way and of course thank you to Lakeview and it's staff. You are always bettering your practices and I'll be trying to bring those to my community to save more lives.
Facts About Jacksonville Treatment Centers
Addiction is a deeply personal disease. In fact, you may have little in common with other addicts you meet.
You might take the same drugs, and you might have struggled with the same addiction consequences, but your medical histories, educational levels and mental health status might be quite varied. Since each addiction is different, a program that works for someone else might not work for you. In order to heal, you’ll need a program that’s designed just for you. In Jacksonville, there are many programs that can provide you with this customized approach, although finding just the right Jacksonville drug treatment center might mean asking many questions.
Benefits of Being Admitted Into Treatment
People who have been through rehabilitation for a drug or alcohol addiction often describe their programs in reverent terms. Attend just one meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous and you might hear recovering addicts talk about how their programs helped them to:
While it’s possible that some people could obtain these benefits on their own without the help of a rehabilitation program, it’s also likely that some people could never recover without help. Addictions isolate you, and make it hard for you to make good decisions, so it might be difficult for you to step back from your life and make the crucial decisions you’ll need to make in order to stay sober. Of all of the benefits Jacksonville drug rehabilitation centers can provide, the largest benefit might involve education. With the help of a counselor, you’ll learn how addictions have changed your body and your mind, and you’ll learn how to keep an addiction at bay in the future.
Comparing Treatment in Jacksonville
There are many different ways to compare your Jacksonville options. You might choose, for example, to focus exclusively on programs that provide care on an inpatient basis. According to a study in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, inpatient programs for alcoholism were slightly more effective than outpatient programs, but those in outpatient programs did also recover. Inpatient programs might be an appropriate choice for you if you’ve tried to control your addiction in the past and were unable to do so. Outpatient recovery program programs might be a better choice if you have a strong support system at home and you are very motivated to change.
Comparing by Cost
Some rehabilitation programs cater to those with a larger amount of discretionary funds. These programs might be expensive, but if you’re accustomed to the finer things in life, these programs might help you to feel more at ease. Similarly, some programs offer treatment options on a sliding fee scale. These programs might be more appropriate for you if your budget is tight and money is a concern.
There’s no shame in comparing programs by cost. In fact, cost comparisons might be an excellent way for you to determine which programs are likely to provide you with care that will help you feel comfortable.
