Phoenix House Springfield Center provides residential substance abuse treatment for men and women, with an emphasis on gender-specific programming. Clients receive treatment–including treatment for co-occurring mental health needs–in a highly structured setting where they can develop the social and emotional capital required to live positive and independent, drug-free lives. We pride ourselves on helping clients enhance their education and job skills while in treatment. The Center also provides enhanced residential programming.

Individualized Treatment
This term describes one-on-one therapy, in which a patient and trained counselor, social worker, psychologist or psychiatrist meets privately with a patient to discuss challenges related to lifestyle, work, family and romantic relationships that may have contributed to the development of an addiction.Individualized Treatment
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.

- Neil GaerSenior Program DirectorNeil Gaer brings to Phoenix House twenty years of experience at social and human service agencies. In addition to being a licensed drug and alcohol counselor, Mr. Gaer holds a bachelor’s degree in human services and a Master of Public Administration from the University of New Haven. Neil sees exciting developments in Phoenix House’s future as it implements electronic health records technology that tracks effectiveness and the impact of treatment. The New England region has instituted a comprehensive quality assurance program measuring indicators like client satisfaction and a client’s self-assessed psychological functioning.
- Patrick B. McEneaneySenior Vice President, Regional DirectorMr. McEneaney joined Phoenix House as Vice President and Regional Director in August 1999 when Phoenix House acquired Marathon Phoenix House. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Vice President and Regional Director in April 2003. In July 2008, Mr. McEneaney assumed responsibility for both the New England and Florida Regions. Prior to joining Phoenix House, he headed his own consulting firm, HR Diagnostics, and served as Vice President, Director of Human Resources, for Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens for over 20 years. He also served as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at St. John’s University. Mr. McEneaney holds a B.A. from Queens College and an Executive M.B.A. from Baruch College.
