ABOUT JOURNEYPURE AT THE RIVER
JourneyPure, set in the Tennessee foothills of Murfreesboro, offers residential and outpatient treatment to adults struggling with substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders. The facility also provides medical detox, a service available in only 12 percent of residential, non-hospital treatment facilities in Tennessee.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at JourneyPure is individualized and follows a number of evidence-based approaches, including motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), and trauma-informed care, as well as a range of holistic treatments.
Residents participate in individual and group therapy, yoga, mindfulness, meditation, and 12-step meetings. Holistic and experiential treatments are also offered and include music therapy, equine therapy, and art therapy. Adventure therapy is also incorporated into programming, which utilizes wilderness immersion, problem solving, and physical challenges to build self-confidence.
Outpatient options include a partial hospitalized program (PHP), which is a modality offered by 18.4 percent of treatment facilities in Tennessee. There's also an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which is available in a little more than half (53.5 percent) of Tennessee treatment facilities, as well as a specialized group for
Loved ones may participate in family counseling and process groups, and aftercare is provided for one year at no cost. The JourneyPure Coaching app allows alumni to have access to coaches wherever they are. Those enrolled in coaching services also have access to on-site care groups at and exclusive alumni events.
JourneyPure employs a multidisciplinary team of medical doctors, nurses, mental health technicians, psychiatrists, therapists, and recovery coaches.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
JourneyPure is settled on 127 acres of Tennessee woodland near the West Fork of the Stones River. Official photos indicated a rustic yet modern facility with private bedrooms. Residents have access to outdoor spaces in wooded areas, where they can relax and meditate.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Of the 18 former clients surveyed by Rehabs.com to date, 12 gave the facility positive feedback and six gave the rehab negative reviews. Alumni who reported positive experiences praised JourneyPure for its effective treatment and comfortable detox services. "This place saved my life," Carly wrote in a review representative of positive feedback. "One of my biggest fears initially was the detox process. I was absolutely amazed at how little any adverse symptoms took place during the process."
However, unhappy former clients complained about unexpected fees, a lack of security, and a lack of one-on-one therapy. "All financing was agreed on prior to my stay, all covered by insurance. Then a month later, I get a bill from a 3rd party NOT covered by insurance for $1653.00 with NO explanation," one alum wrote.
JourneyPure fared well on secondary sites, where it earned an average rating of 3.9 out of five stars based on 37 Google reviews and a 4.7 out of five star rating based on the opinions of 29 individuals on Facebook, which the facility may manage. The majority of alumni who left comments described treatment as life-changing and the staff as compassionate and caring. "The staff there from the very minute I arrived, to the very minute I left were absolutely amazing," Lillian wrote in a representative review.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
Josh, the one loved one polled by Rehab.com, was highly critical of JourneyPure. He described the facility as "horrendous to say the least," and claimed that their family member had to deal with bed bugs.
JourneyPure accepts some insurance plans and self-pay. The facility also works with a loan provider to help finance the cost of treatment.
