Willingway was my spring board to a better way of living. Staff was caring and food was amazing! I stayed December 2021 and really needed the help! I was stubborn for the first couple of weeks, but the staff was patient and more than supportive. Love this place!
I found Mt Sinai on Rehabs.com and called for my son. After speaking with someone for 2 days, I checked my son into Mt. Sinai. He said it was going to be the best decision I ever made for my son, and he was right. They were amazing. Everyone is really supportive. I met his therapist, the COO and was so impressed. They all saved his life. Today, he is back at work, and living a great life.
I am a former resident of this program, now 4 years sober, and was surprised to see such a negative review of this program. One of the directors (TS), who is no longer associated with the program, had a tendency to use fear and vey unusual consequences as a means of behavioral modification. I admit, I didn\'t/don\'t agree with most of those techniques for a person who has already suffered severe trauma as a result of years of substance abuse/addiction, but we are talking about very unhealthy individuals who arrive to treatment with nothing but problems, poor coping skills, family issues, legal issues and low-self esteem. It doesn\'t feel good to give up the one thing that provided comfort/relief and learn how to live sober. That\'s why the statistics for long-term recovery are so low. I can say in all honesty that the program provided EVERYTHING I needed to leave and stay sober. Most places, and I have \"unsuccessfully\" attended many of them myself, provide a bed and minimal structure. Damascus provided me with structure, accountability, workbook material, relapse prevention, 12 step support and a safe, comfortable environment to learn how to live, work and thrive as a sober member of my society. It\'s too bad some disgruntled former residents who were unwilling to put forth honesty, hard work, and behavior modification into action. I still maintain friendships with many sober brothers in recovery who had the same experience I did. Thanks staff!
