We basically did not know what to expect as our son entered Serenity View for the 30 day rehab. Our first conversation with him was most uplifting and enlightening on how well he had adapted and accepted the professional help from the counselors and staff there. Their informative emails and availability to communicate what he was learning were a tremendous tool to help better understand what was included in his care. The research materials provided were also a valuable tool for us to learn how this disease affects all of those close to him and how to deal with the situation.
Serenity View offers a Family Weekend of 3 full days of sessions pertaining to understanding better what the individuals are dealing with, how to cope and what to expect in recovery. It is a group/one on one with your loved one that you will find very emotional but so rewarding for your family. I encourage anyone who has a loved one in rehab to participate. I commend the staff at Serenity View for the support and foundation that they have provided for my son and our entire family.

From Monday-Friday, patients will participate in programming that is designed to help them continue moving forward with their recovery goals. We understand that given the nature of outpatient programs, many patients may still be employed or have responsibilities at home while they receive care. Therefore, we work with each patient to help make appropriate accommodations to their necessary schedules. For example, should a patient need to be on a work call during treatment hours, we ask that they inform their therapist so we can provide them with a quiet space for them to take that call. This is just one of the many ways that we help you balance your work and treatment so that you can achieve long lasting recovery.

Strengths: A few exceptional counselors...no longer work there! Weaknesses:No exercise/yoga/meditation Participants allowed to do whatever with notation Disciplined by visit removal 12 step meetings are self directed therefore focusing more on problem rather than solution You get out of it What you put into it. I think less is more. Too many participants, too many children coming on day 1 with Mom. Now DMH has it turned into a 6-9 month long cattle shute! I liked it better before when DMH allowed counselors to be healers and listeners rather than typists and disciplinarians

Helped quit drinking alcohol and quit doing drugs. Treatment wasn't long enough. Helped people quit drinking, and doing drugs. Treatment was not long enough. I think if the facility would keep people longer then it might do them some good. But if you are just in a facility for a short period of time the treatment is not going to work!!
