Karah is an exceptional therapist because she gets down to the core issue and keeps it upfront and honest. She never tells me what I need to do, she just gives me guidance to help me find my own way to do it and get through what ever Im going through. She is funny and energetic and very knowledgeable, her groups with the women are awesome. She also does DBT and LGBTQ groups. Having a LGBTQ group is so important, they had an ally day where friends of LGBTQ can come in and share about what they go through and how they can be supportive. It went really well and meant a lot to the community.
Recovery First has a very well trained and diverse therapists on top of the amazing techs who offer great words of wisdom since a majority are in recovery themselves. They also offer a since of freedom with options that include going to the gym, doing yoga, mediation, going to the rec room (ping pong, air hockey, a relaxing serenity chair, and the wii), going to church, and/or art therapy. Once you transition into the PHP phase, the techs take you out to actuall AA and NA meetings where you listen to other people's stories and can start looking for a sponsor. As you are getting close to your discharge date the staff is very involved with your next phase of treatment and genuinely care about the client's well being. Alex is great at running the alumni meetings and encourages all alumni's attendance if they are staying near by and also geniuly cares about everyone's recovery. Expectations between the girls, men's, and residential houses vary. There is a lapse of communication and no clear structure amongst the higher ups. It was an overall great experience and would recommend Recovery First to anyone who seeks to better themselves.
