The Recovery Village at Palmer Lake
It's pretty much a country club. The beds are extraordinarily comfortable, bathrooms are clean, rooms are quiet, and the BHTs do everything they can within the rules/their power to accommodate your requests. The days are pretty routine...up at 6:30, coffee, shower, breakfast at 8, groups from 9 to 4:30 with a 45 minute lunch and plenty of smoke breaks. The scenery is breath taking. Some of the therapists are incredible - luck of the draw. A large majority of the staff is in recovery. Probably one of the nicest rehabs in the United States. Don't get me wrong, the rules can be restrictive and arbitrary, but it's for everyone's safety. No privacy, but that's to be expected, you get use to it. Coming from someone who has worked in several fine dining restaurants, the food is exceptional. One piece of advice - fill up during meal times because there is no free access to snacks. Even if you're not hungry, eat, you'll be hungry later if you don't.

I can honestly say I loved it here�something you don�t often here from clients in treatment facilities. I hopped from place to place for years and this is the place that saved me. The facility�s approach to healing is unique and helped me feel like I was a part of something greater than myself. I connected with new parts of myself by exposure to animals, fresh air, energy work, and a whole lot of love. While more standard therapies are also staples of the treatment curriculum, what I found different was the frame through which healing was approached: at other facilities I was taught to cope with emotions and thoughts in a way that highlighted my separateness from others and confirmed unintentionally that I was alone; at Rites of Passage, I learned to self-regulate by feeling my place with others and in the universe. I gradually began to feel that I wasn�t so different from everyone else and that healing was possible. Other places just teach you to get by. Also helpful and unique is that A Rites of Passage might alter the curriculum for you based on your needs. I received a treatment that was somewhat tweaked from that of my fellow clients, though our comradery was ever strong and we did most things together. I made good friends, and we did most required and non-required activities together. The group is small enough to instill intimacy and attention to each client, both from the facilitators and from each other. Rites of Passage also includes specialized nutritional healing within every client�s treatment plan�a crucial part of the healing process that none of my previous facilities attended to so thoroughly. Above all, much of what I needed when I entered treatment was a sense of community. Rites of Passage was just that: a perfect balance of loving care and professional boundaries that helped me learn how to form my own boundaries with loved ones. In learning this, my relationship with my family and friends improved ten-fold, because I finally took responsibility for my actions. Because of this treatment model I learned how to give my family and friends the love they deserve. When people see me today, they can�t believe I am the same person I was 3 years ago. To all who are reading this… Let me just start off by saying this, Narconon Colorado and its caring and qualified staff saved my daughter’s life and are willing and able to do the same for you or your family as well. I would like to share with you all my experience with Narconon Colorado. A family member of mine had a long time alcohol and later cocaine addiction. It was ruining her life and her ability to deal honestly with herself, her family, her friends and employers. Narconon Colorado saved her life and gave her tools and an understanding of self to survive. It’s been about a year since she has started the program and has not had a drink or other drugs since. She can be around others at socials and has no desire to go backwards. She is her own person again, making her own sane choices. She has gotten her independent thinking back and can stand firm and confident as herself without drugs. Dealing with the people at Narconon was a pleasure! All true professionals. In the beginning they informed me of the process and what to expect even of my own daughter’s behavior. Throughout the process they treated my daughter and myself with professionalism and expertise of their years of experience. Everything they told me they kept their word, even to the point of calling me at least once a week and more if they felt appropriate to keep me informed. If I called them, they called back. If I had a question they answered it straightforward and honestly. Narconon Colorado proved to be a quality and effective drug rehab center and only a drug rehab center that has a caring and effective staff and facility and in no way tried to force religious beliefs of any kind on my daughter or myself. I checked into the science behind their methods and its workability and most of all, its success rate. I do not believe in rumors or disgruntled opinions of others who blame others as their primary operating basis. I believe in science, facts and results! I happen to be a retired doctor with numerous published research papers and have lectured all over the world meeting many people of many different beliefs. I have seen many methods work and fail in the treatment of the mind and body. I researched the methods of Colorado Narconon and that of others before I decided who to trust my daughter’s life. And yes, my daughter is an independent adult and is responsible for her own condition, I am still a father who loves and wants only the best for my daughter. After much research into other facilities and methodologies and staff I choose along with my daughter Narconon Colorado. And I am glad I did on so many levels. My daughter was treated so well and her results so positive that she gave them, Narconon Colorado the ultimate compliment, she referred a friend. Again, Narconon Colorado methods worked saved my daughter’s life and that’s what matters to me!
