I left Malvern on Jan. 31 2019. I had a fairly good experience there. The staff was helpful and efficient. The amenities need some work. An example..I had only 2 hot showers in the 20 days I was there. As much as the staff tries..and they do try..a lot of what is wrong there is out of there control. Towards the end of my stay I felt like the clients began to take over and attempt to run the place. There is a lot of younger adults coupling up and not focusing on ANY rehabilitation AT ALL. There was a lack of control over the clients. The younger clients began to run the place. There was a lot of disrespect towards staff and the older clients. The court ordered clients were OBVIOUSLY forced to be there and in my opinion should NOT be mixed in with the clients who chose to walk through the door. The staff made some..just some effort to dissuade rude and disrespectful men and women from coupling and/or forming cliques. There was A LOT of arguing back and forth before clients with eachother. The staff had a lack of control. I felt my treatment might've been better if separated from those much younger than myself. I am 51 and ensured a whole lot of added stress from the younger crowd arguing and being plainly disrespectful to staff and clients alike. My counselor was GREAT. He had control of small group. I feel as though the amenities could use improvement. Most negative experiences were due to lack of control from a staff/client perspective. There is a VERY strong alumni there. I took a strong sense of recovery out the door with me. I really feel strongly that an age separation would have improved my treatment.
Caron saved my life. The care I received while the was compassionate, kind, loving and tough - which is exactly what I needed The staff; from admissions to the counselors, the counselor assistants, the kitchen servers and drivers; is by far the best and from what I witnessed, each loved working for Caron.. Caron gave me the tools to build a solid foundation . These tools are key to my recovery and I utilize them each and every day. Yes, they are expensive, but I totally got what I paid for and then some. They do offer scholarships to those in financial need - you just have to ask, After care and alumni relations are top notch. I would recommend Caron to anyone who needs help and asks.
Little Creek helped save my life and going there is one of the best decisions I ever made. Can't talk highly enough about the staff, the attention to detail, adventure trek program, and the care and support I received. Sober 15 months now and my life is amazing
