Latino Commission on Alc/DA Services Alameda County/El Chante

I was hesitant to go into inpatient treatment, but boy was I wrong to worry. To a person everyone working at The House is earnestly invested and involved in helping clients recover. Sure I had some staff who I had friction with, but I always felt my recovery took precedence over personality differences. Bedding and infrastructure is a bit handed down and scuffed up, but everything is clean, as are the public and shared personal spaces. I did not have one bad meal in 2 months- NOT ONE !!! Amaaazing Latin American home cooked food that was healthy and tasted really really good. Alameda county decided I didn’t need 90 days and clients told me they could hear my counselor fighting for me to get a full program. That moved me- that I wasn’t just another meatbag to them, even if I am to the government…I give El Chante TEN out of five STARS !!!

Luxe Recovery

I’ve been too a fair amount of rehabs in the Los Angeles area and most of them are especially lacking in the areas of staff and client relations. Luxe recovery has a team that genuinely cares about each client and works with them to provide the perfect place to get their feet underneath them while also providing a spotlessly well kept environment that is comfortable and feels like home. Any parent or family looking to help a loved one on their journey to sobriety should look into luxe. This place was my last stop and I still keep in touch with the family I made here.

In 2007, 34 percent of the county's residents binge drink, compared to the state average of 30 percent. Alcohol abuse accounted for 22 percent of treatment admissions in 2008. However, the alcohol death rate did decrease slightly, from 12.89 deaths per 100,000 in 2000 to 11.34 in 2007, showing some signs of encouragement.Clues Your Loved One Needs Professional Help

One of the clues that your loved one needs professional help is that they neglect to eat. Your body needs proper nutrients to give you energy to survive. When one becomes addicted to drugs, they may only think about drugs for survival. They often do not care about basic needs, such maintaining a well-balanced diet. They only worry about their drug use and because drug use can cause stomachaches, nausea and vomiting, they may not feel like eating. If your loved one refuses to eat, get them professional help before they damage their long-term health.

*Complications From Injecting Drugs

Drugs are deadly enough on their own, but using needles to inject drugs can cause many more health problems, including the following:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Hepatitis
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Bacterial endocarditis
