Verify your coverageThey have a strong program that supports recovery from addiction, the staff is very pro-active in personally assisting each client with her individual needs, the facility is known for producing strong women in recovery walking with integrity and grace, recovery from addiction is of upmost importance, there is a lot of support in the community and a strong familial bond between all the clients and staff. I had an excellent experience with this facility. The staff and community was extremely positive. There was strong support in the recovery program, and personalized attention to each client about their individual struggles and how to overcome them. There is a lot of attention on self-love and acceptance in conjunction with accountability and challenges to grow as a strong, healthy woman in recovery.
Definitely great at combining 12-step and holistic treatments, it's not an all or nothing approach, and each person is treated uniquely. It's also a pretty affordable facility as well. It's a nice environment in general, but some of the furnishings are a bit dated. This was my 3rd attempt at treatment, and it was way different than the first 2 places I went. From the first day I was treated as a unique individual and was introduced to new recovery approaches in a way that seemed very inviting. They also went beyond just treatment and helped me focus on life issues that were causing me problems too!
I went there for severe depression and suicidal behavior. I was able to also work on my eating disorder and sexual trauma. Left with many coping skills and on less or no medication at the time when I had come in on several medications. I also left with abetted sense of myself, coping skills and a stronger support network. My roommate who was there for alcohol addiction has been sober ever since and we are the best of friends to this day. They provide a family week during the 30 day treatment, and though it was very difficult emotionally, my parents and I have a stronger relationship because of it. We were able to learn so much and grow from it. Anytime someone I know is struggling with anything from addiction, eating disorders, to mood disorders, I always tell them about Sierra Tucson and how amazing it was for my now best friend and I. Though I still struggle with depression and ED I am much more equipped to cope with life because of what I learned/experienced at Sierra Tucson. If I could afford it I would spend one month a year there just to keep everything in check. :-)
