My therapist Saffiyah was spectacular, she was a very positive spirit. All of our meetings were very helpful. She's just terrific. She has such a good sense of humor and a good character. The classes were particularly powerful when Demitrius and Tony facilitated. They could be motivational speakers because they are so empowering, they really help you to see things as they are. They are always positive and upbeat, they keep it real. I got so much out of their classes because they share their own experiences with alcohol and addiction. I loved the facility here, its huge, I jog and walk around the grounds. Its a beautiful campus with the huge oak trees, its kind of magical. Lots of wildlife, its definitely a good environment for recovery no doubt about it because its peaceful. I've been in rehabs in the past that were closed off but here you have the freedom to go meditate by the fountains and find your peace. Every day we would paly volleyball and basketball which are very therapeutic activities. I never stayed holed up in my room because there is always great stuff going on. They have nightly activities like trivia and bingo, I even liked the art class. The most important part was that River Oaks taught me to stay in the day by having a "just for today" mindset. They helped me to stay in the present instead of focusing on the past or the future. With out doubt or second thought I would recommend River Oaks because the staff here is extraordinary. They want to see you do well here which is incredible, anyone can stay sober here in treatment but they set you up for success to stay sober when you go home because they care, and it shows.
