The Meadows Texas
This facility is so picturesque! Most addiction counselors are trained for drug and alcohol addictions well, as the majority have been in treatment themselves prior to working there as counselors and staff members. I chose Sunspire because it had advertised a strong mental health component to its program. I attended due to family hiring interventionist Joanie Gammell, who recommended facility as she had personally visited when I'd selected. She knew I thought I was or had had a nervous breakdown, as my family had read me their loving letters, prior to my entry. The new clinical director, did all she could once she learned of my specific reason for entry, to address the mental health component of Sunspire into my care plan approximately 21/2 weeks into my 28 day program. I did not have a satisfactory counselor available for my particular health care needs; however many others, esp. intake, nursing, most admin, and faith based needs were. physician and psychiatrist were wonderful, wished They were able to see me more during treatment. Many more therapeutic programs could be implemented at low cost, suggestions shared specifically were made: nature/ bird walks, wildlife visit/identifications on grounds. garden and plant/bush Education there. Arts/paint/pottery class. Yoga. The fitness instructors and gym were great. Integration based on maturity and assessment needs upon entry. I'm so glad I went as I understand what caused me to begin drinking, personal famial problems; and husbands severe stroke; not attending stroke support for myself and family together led me to severe depression, agoraphobic, anxiety, moderate drinking etc. I so appreciated faith based programs offered by Sunspire;my personal religious preferences/needs met and transportations were accommodated. I am so grateful for WWR. I have been to many treatment centers in the last 10 years and I was a client at WWR two times the second when I was 3 months pregnant. Going to treatment is always scary but the staff and owner showed me soooo much compassion, love, comfort and every act of kindness you could imagine. I recommend this place to all who are seeking help. Not only is the facility nurturing and peaceful but the people there still hold such a huge place in my heart! I could go on and on. There is a woman who works in the front that has played such a huge part in my life and has loved on me so much. I honestly don�t know who or where I would be if it wasn�t and the others. I am eternally grateful and if my husband was allowed to live there with me I honestly would of never left!! Thank you windmill I am alive!!!The facility is amazing!!!! Very healing, peaceful and spiritual. Beautiful redone and everything is extremely nice and the beds were like heaven:) I think the men and women should be more separate.
Great Oaks Recovery Center
I spent 30 days at Great Oaks Recovery in March and April of 2016 for alcohol abuse. I am nearly 2 years sober and have not had any relapse. The tools and techniques I learned have helped me navigate through a couple of periods where I wanted to drink. I support the 12 step program and attend AA meetings weekly. However, for me the group classes learning about relapse, coping and behavioral therapy have been more helpful. The most helpful was my counselor, who helped me identify my triggers. When I get into thst complacent mood where I think I'm OK and can have a glass of wine or two, I stop myself and recall the conversations we had. When I get angry or jealous that I can't drink like a normal person, I just remember I have an illness and my body and mind can't process alcohol much like a diabetic can't process sugar. The staff at Great Oaks was wonderful. The facility is nice - very nice for a treatment facility. We had a few hiccups with hot water while I was there but they were sorting it out. The staff would also take us on outings such as AA and bowling. I appreciated the sit down meals with a couple of choices. The food was always fresh and snacks were always available. I would have liked a few healthier options but the menu allowed enough choice. They also stocked a few of my own items for me. Of course I would have loved a facility with rooms and meals like the Four Seasons but what they have is sufficient and I wasn't there for vacation! I also appreciated the smaller scale of the facility so we could get to know each other and get a sense of community and commitment to sobriety. I highly recommend Great Oaks Recovery!
