We basically did not know what to expect as our son entered Serenity View for the 30 day rehab. Our first conversation with him was most uplifting and enlightening on how well he had adapted and accepted the professional help from the counselors and staff there. Their informative emails and availability to communicate what he was learning were a tremendous tool to help better understand what was included in his care. The research materials provided were also a valuable tool for us to learn how this disease affects all of those close to him and how to deal with the situation. Serenity View offers a Family Weekend of 3 full days of sessions pertaining to understanding better what the individuals are dealing with, how to cope and what to expect in recovery. It is a group/one on one with your loved one that you will find very emotional but so rewarding for your family. I encourage anyone who has a loved one in rehab to participate. I commend the staff at Serenity View for the support and foundation that they have provided for my son and our entire family.
The purpose of greenhouse is great and their are some that try to fulfill that purpose then their are other whom in my opinion are entitled individuals whom treat us by us i mean clients as drunks and alcoholics with no sense. When actually the majority of us are very educated individuals. Greenhouse has strayed away from their mission statement as well as their morals and values are no longer aligned with what they are advertising to the public. The greenhouse has become very unethical and ignore current policies that are set in place. Instead they begin to implement and strongly enforce rules and regulation of their own without any prior notice to the clients. We are no longer on one accord and when the staff is approached with the policy and asked why this or that they can not give us as in clients a straight forward answer nor show us in the policy were the newly enforced rule or regulation is located in the policy. How can one be held accountable and made follow rules and regulations that he or she has never been aware of. In my opinion that is unethical behavior.
Great Oaks was a life changer for me! The nurses ensure that you are comfortable throughout your stay especially during detox. The counselors have the clients best interest and were very good! The classes during the day are very helpful and also help one realize the importance of being involved in AA. They even give you a big book! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Made a huge impact in my life!
