This is an amazing opportunity and place to get sober. The staff is loving and caring. The group where great, you just have to listen and apply what is said to yourself. I spent 5 months here and I have no one complaint. The district recovery saved my life and helped set up my future!
I spent 3 months in the inpatient program followed by 3 months of their intensive outpatient program. Rehab is not meant to be a vacation but the Northbound staff is very accommodating. Much like other treatment programs, they only give you as much freedom as you can handle. Naturally, I fought the process while I was a client, but I am grateful for the boundaries they drew for me before I was able to act rationally outside of my addiction. I only rated meals & nutrition as four stars because Northbound lets you shop for your own groceries and prepare your own meals. It may seem like a simple freedom to those who have not struggled with addiction, but after being utterly consumed by alcohol for nearly ten years I did not know how to foster physical health. Northbound helps you integrate back into life as your sober-self. They also offer programs to help you finish your education, or even just to help you set some realistic life goals for yourself. When it comes time to leave Northbound they make every effort to help you set up a support system. To this day, nearly two years later, Northbound still plays a large part in my sobriety; I am an active participant in their group of alumni. When looking for a treatment center for you or a loved one, remember that no matter where you go it will be difficult. Living sober is a huge adjustment, and initially quite a shock. I can truly say that without the genuine encounters I had with staff, and the relationships that I developed with fellow clients, I would not be where I am today. Today, I am content. Most of the time I am grateful for the struggles I\'ve had... I had no idea who I was before I got sober and now I couldn\'t be more pleased with the work-in-progress that I am. I am rambling, but I just love this place and am SO grateful to them for helping me get where I am today.
