Alternative to Meds Center
I owe my LIFE TO The Alternative to Meds Center. 4 years ago, I was extremely sick with my numerous health issues and on several different medications. I sat down to look for help online and after praying over and over to find a place to go, ATMC was the 2nd place that came up. I knew immediately that THIS was where I had to go. I was reluctant to leave Virginia, but my intuition assured me that this was who could save my life. Within a week, I found myself in Sedona. I have struggled with alcoholism, and addiction, and mental illness my entire life. I had never gone away to a treatment facility before and I was TERRIFIED and having severe adverse reactions to my medications. I was immediately surrounded by the most unique, loving, compassionate people I've ever met. I was in a beautiful resort style spacious home at the base of thunder mountain. The facility was clean, neat and easily accessible and they even had a pool, hot tub and steam room all on the property. There are also peaceful landscapes for meditating and resting. The kitchen is open in the middle of the house so we can see our AMAZING organic food being prepared. (This is the BEST food I've EVER had btw) I learned so much about my diet and how using herbs and supplements and living a clean, healthy lifestyle, I can FINALLY manage my mental health problems and live a happy fulfilled life. I have also learned so much about how Important detoxing is in getting off my medications and staying clear. They used saunas, ionic footbaths, and a whole list of holistic modalities to get me OFF my medications and helping to rebuild my weakened immune system. I was so so scared to get off my meds, but ATMC made it go by smoother than I ever could have imagined. I am incredibly grateful and thankful to the entire staff and medical team here. These guys are angels in my book!
Fountain Hills Recovery
From my experience thus far, the facility is one of the most comfortable and personalized programs you can get. Giving clients comfort without compromising their care. Strengths: Private, Dual diagnosis, comfortable. Weaknesses: Not enough beds to help more people. Would like to see them with more levels of care available to help people.
Pinnacle Peak Recovery
At first, I hated this place. My therapist left and I got reassigned to a new one who was not on the level (bless her heart, I hope she's doing well now). My insurance dropped me halfway through, and when I called my provider, they told me they weren't receiving documents from the center. Then I dropped a dirty UA after coming coming back from an outside meeting (without having used, in any form at all), and the clinical director decided to not 'complete' my treatment. Also, they took the rock out thing away, which I was sore about for a little while (knowing I was being super petty). However, they did allow me to go to IOP after that fiasco, and I completed that. It was cool to have some extra accountability, and to finally fully complete something. During PHP, they took us to outside meetings, which was fantastic. I met a man who took me through a book and helped me find god behind paradise house (not flakes house, shameless plug). Being in this structured environment with an amazing case manager's assistance with FMLA leave from work was a huge help. They kept me separated from substances long enough to have an experience and a personality change. For that I am extremely grateful. I have since been engaged in hospitals and institutions work (for fun and for free) all across the country, and this place that I once hated for imagined slights, I now see is of a much higher caliber than all of the others I've been to. I consider myself lucky for having been here, and would suggest Pinnacle if a man were jittery or begged and required a definite hospital stay. 📘🛐
