Love the lectures, they are great at sharing their experiences and knowledge in a way that the kids can relate to. We are in a state that does not allow lock down facilities for teens or adults. This facility deals with teens and they tell the kids not to let door hit them on the way out. Facility has moved the 19 to 25 year old females from the adult facility to the adolescent facility where these females are allowed to smoke and the others are not, with their smoking area being outside the windows of the kids, triggering those who smoke. Facility is located in a not so nice areaFacility used to do "family week" where the parents could attend and learn more about addiction. They need to change the way they handle kids leaving the facility.
8 AM 3 PM 7PM I’m 17Y/O and went here last summer, I stayed at the teen facility. My overall stay was good, rooms & bathrooms are nice and well cleaned. The food is great and their is a basketball court and plenty of sports equipment to play with which made my stay quite a lot better. I didn’t like the fact that one of the counselors refered to the patients and myself as “dope feins” This felt belittling and I hope if he’s reading this it’ will encourage him to not call his “patients” names such as dope fein, claiming he wouldn’t be one of our (a dope fiend’s) bitch. I always thought to myself “Are you trying to help us get better or worse?” with this specific counselor (he’s a male counselor) Overall however my treatment was effective and if you’re looking for a place with beautiful views and a quality temporary living space to clear you’re mind for detox, look no further. In the end it’s up to us (addicts) to decide what is best for our life and this facility will push you towards the right direction.
An unbelievable gift to our family and I wish more people were aware of this option. Once the desire for help is real, JVA is the best partner you can imagine. They save lives and we are forever grateful!
