Verify your coverageHabilitat changed my life and my perspective. As a prior resident and now a graduate, i can say I found their treatment method to be very effective. Before I came into the program I was a heroin user and was on many different psych medications and had just about every diagnosis given to me in the book. I was practically a slave to these things believing that i could never be truly happy unless i was on something. Habilitat tought me that by making better choices, developing a positive mindset, positive affirmation, helping others before myself, developing my own belief system and standing by it, and many other things, that I could get over my need to use. It is a difficult program, not for the weak minded individual, but for those who truly want change and freedom, but upon finishing it (I graduated almost 6months ago) I can say I am happy and I am not on any medications anymore. No, life is not perfect. But it is good, i am grateful, I have realized in order to truly live i must learn to feel things and be uncomfortable at times. To be successful i have to step outside my comfort zone and work hard to achieve my goals. Habilitat may not be a traditional rehab program offering psych meds and 12 step meetings, but honestly none of those programs worked for me. They were bandaid programs not solving the problem long term. I was able to make excuses for myself in those programs "I have a disease, relapse is part of my story" so on and so forth. So despite what some "scientific data" might spit out about these different programs and how they are better, I can offer a real experience of someone who truly wanted to better her life. I have taken responsibility and accountablity for my own life today. I pay my own bills, I exercise, I have a full time job, I am 24 years old and have dreams and goals that would have not been made possible if it weren't for the "tough love" that I recieved. To realize that we have a choice is a very powerful thing that i think many people fail to take into account. Most of the time i think its for fear that then they have to actually be responsible for the things they do. Anyways, great program! Definetly gave me the tools i needed to be successful! Thank you Habilitat! Also there are scholarships available for those who need them. I went on a full scholarship.
Friendly surroundings and positive attitudes. They had great class sessions. The only downfall I found was the location of the facility.
I am still clean, and now work there. Going to school for my csac " certified substance abuse counseling."
