Areas of Specialization
  • Medical Detoxification
Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
  • Individualized Treatment
Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
  • Residential Treatment
Residential treatment programs provide housing (food and meals) in addition to treatment for substance abuse. Some facilities offer only short-term residential treatment, some offer only long-term treatment and others offer both, ranging from a few days to many months, based on patient needs.
  • 12-Step
The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Many drug and alcohol treatment centers base their treatment on 12 steps – the first three of which are situational, the next four addressing the practical issues created by the addiction, followed by two steps focused on making amends for hurting others. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction.
  • Equine Therapy
A form of animal therapy, equine therapy involves visiting, working with and sometimes riding horses as a way to create a metaphoric relationship that leads to life-altering insights.

This place is horrible. Stayed there 77 days and the on site Dr. Who is Dr. Rob Ashby had me on suboxone. I was on suboxone the whole time. 2 weeks before I left I sat down with him and explained that I would possibly be leaving in 2 weeks and would like to continue my Suboxone treatment after I completed the program. So I discharged her about two weeks ago and he prescribe me a refill that would last two weeks and told me that when I get close to needing another refill to contact him so we could set up an appointment so we could continue my Suboxone maintenance. So yesterday, when I was close to running out, I tried to contact him so I could come in for an appointment for another refill. It took me 48 hours to get a hold of him and when I spoke with him, he told me that he could not give me another refill and that he didn’t have time to deal with me at the moment. He also said that he never said that he was going to continue to see me after I discharged from Silver Sands, which is a complete lie. Before I left, I told one of the higher-ups staff members name Alex that I was gonna be leaving so they knew I was going to be leaving and they were trying to say that they didn’t know that I was gonna be leaving that I kept saying one day I was gonna leave the next day I said I was gonna stay, the next day I said I was gonna leave. That never happened. so now, I am going to be going into withdraws, because I no longer have any Suboxone prescription. They completely hung me out to dry and nobody seems to care the suffering that I am going to have to endure these next week or two until I can get in with another separate doctor to get put back on the suboxone. But there are no appointments that I could find in Prescott with any doctor able to prescribe suboxone for 2-3 weeks. This is completely absurd and I cannot believe they would let one of their clients who successfully completed their program suffer like this. Now the only thing I can do is go to the emergency room at a local hospital and pray that they will help me until I can go down to Phoenix to a place I found that will help me. I cannot believe this is happening. It’s like they don’t even care.

A year ago at this holiday time, I was distraught about my son's opiate addiction and frightened for his very life. Today my son has almost a year of sobriety, has a full time job and begins graduate school in January. It all began with the team at Silver Sands. A staff member was fully committed to doing what it takes to help her clients get and stay sober and she really cares! I am so proud of my son and thank the universe for bringing us to Silver Sands Recovery. Thank you to all the staff!
